Hanyu 1985 Ace of Spades Single Cask #9308

Perhaps the second most talked about bottle within Ichiro Akuto's famous Card Series of whiskies.  The Ace of Spades was released in 2006 and comes from a traditional oak cask that was re-racked into a single Spanish oak sherry butt #9308 before bottling in 2006.

Distilled in 1985 and bottled as a 21 year old, this highly sought after edition was limited to only 300 bottles, this is bottle number 50.

Karuizawa 1974 The Gold Geisha 40 Year Old Cask # 3626

We love receiving new and exciting bottles of Karuizawa, this one is heads and tails above the rest in many ways.  

Aged for an impressive 40 years, the 'Gold Geisha' bottling was distilled in 1974 and bottled in 2014, presented in a beautiful hard wooden lockable case.

This stunning whisky is the last cask from the 1974 vintage of Karuizawa, cask #3626 which yielded only 392 bottles.

Karuizawa 1971 Geisha Single Cask #7267

Karuizawa produced outstanding whiskies, many of which have received international acclaim.  This particular Karuizawa was distilled in 1971 and bottled in 2012. This was matured in sherry butt #7267.

Hanyu 1990 Queen of Hearts Single Cask #9102 

The Queen of Hearts was distilled in 1990 and bottled in 2006.

Matured in a traditional hogshead before a second period of maturation in a french oak cognac wood, cask # 9102.

This bottle is only number 22 of 324.

Hanyu 1991 Ichiro's Malt 'Card' #9001 / Jack of Clubs​

A single cask #9001 Hanyu bottled within the Ichiro's Malt series of whiskies.

Distilled in 1991 and matured in a hogshead before being moved into a American oak sherry butt for a second maturation period prior to being bottled in 2006.

Karuizawa 1974 Single Cask 31 Year Old #4578

A vintage cask Karuizawa distilled in 1974 and bottled on the 27th of March 2006. 

A 31 year old bottled at a strong 65.7% volume.

A 31 year old single sherry cask matured Karuizawa that was one of two Karuizawas released at the 2013 Whisky Show London.

While there was 350 of the Bourbon bottling, this a sherry matured release was much more limited at only 108 bottles.

As with many of the Karuizawa bottlings that we list in our auctions, the labels are fantastic! 

Prendre le Rythme was a single cask bottled exclusively for La Maison Du Whisky (www.whisky.fr) and was distilled in October 1981 and bottled in July 2013.

Single cask #78 yielded a shy 375 bottles.

Karuizawa 1980 Golden Samurai

Distilled in 1980 and bottled in 2015, this was a Dream Dram at the Whisky Exchange Whisky Show in London 2015. 

Rather than being put on general release this was made available to attendees of the show (The Whisky Exchange is the retail arm of Speciality Drinks who are the sole distributor of Karuizawa in the UK). The attendees entered a raffle with the lucky few purchasing the bottle.

The front label depicts a Golden Samurai and the rear label tells the following tale : \"On the Nakasendo trail from Kyoto to Edo, when the shogun wielded real power in Japan, there was a place for Samurai Warriors, feudal lords and their servants to stop and take stock of their journey. A place to gather and unwind, to celebrate and steel themselves for the journey ahead. That place was Kaurizawa.\"

These popular cask strength Karuizawa come from the same batch of casks as the highly popular Karuizawa Asama series.

Bottled at full strength of 61.0%.

This 30 year old Hibiki is the top end of their range and part of their appreciation of the beauty of Japanese nature. The special limited release was exclusive to Travel Retail in 2015.
