Compass Box Last Vatted Malt

In the final day before the 2009 Scotch Whisky regulations were enacted (22/11/2009) CompassBox released both this and the \"Last Vatted Malt\". From that day forward the word \"Vatted\" was no longer legitimate and has been replaced with \"Blended\". So now Blended Malts and Blended Grains are the acceptable nomenclature.

This is a combination of old Speyside and Islay single malts.

A single cask Mortlach matured in an ex-bourbon hogshead. Distilled in November 1979 and bottled in December 2006.

Macallan Ruby 

The crown in Macallan's 1824 which consists of the Gold, Amber, Sienna and Ruby (there a few additions at the higher end of the scale as well).

The Ruby was introduced at the level of Macallan 18 year old and has a typical Macallan richness and depth.  

Michel Couvreur Very Sherried Over 27 Years Malt Whisky

A single malt distilled in Scotland in May 1984 prior to being matured in Burgundy, France. 

Matrured in a sweet sherry cask.

Colonel E.H Taylor Barrel Proof

Hailing from Buffalo Trace, this brand applies methods and mashbills comperable to those intorduced by Colonel E. H. Taylor. He was a bourbon distiller in the late 1800s. 

The Barrel proof is bottled at a hefty 64.5%

A small batch triple matured Caol Ila personally selected by David Wood. 

Distilled in 1998 and bottled for Feis Ile 2015.

Distilled in 1992 and bottled in 2012 after being matured in a single cask. 

Caol Ila 1998 Feis Ile 2013

Release in June 2013 for the annual Feis Ile, this Caol Ila was specially selected by Billy Stitchell.

Billy said this about how the whisky matured:

“Spirit distilled in 1998 has been triple-cask matured. For 12 years it rested in a combination of Refill Butts, Hogsheads and Barrels. The vatted whisky was then allowed to mature for several months in active hogshead casks to impart a spicy/oaky note to the existing delicate Caol Ila smoke. Finally it was treated to a final gentle maturation in European oak.”

Chichibu Chibidaru 2010

This is from the new Japanese distillery Chichibu. Distilled in 2010 and bottled in 2014, this has been matured in Chibidaru casks. 
Chibidaru are similar to quarter casks, the difference being that while Scottish quarter casks just have staves removed, Chibidaru have shortened staves and are repurposed.
