Compass Box 'The Numinous Cask' (Signed)

The Numinous Cask was exclusively produced for La Maison du Whisky in France in March 2012. Only 168 bottles produced and signed by Compass Box Whisky Maker John Glaser.

From the back label:
It began as a beautiful vatting of three of our favourite malts, blended after each had reached ten years in their original American white oak (Quercus alba) casks and racked into a bespoke hybrid cask made of both used American white oak and newly coopered and toasted sessile oak (Quercus petrea) from the Vosges forest.

We then left the whisky for a further six years, and it was transformed.

The liquid inside the cask and now inside this bottle has developed almost magical aromas and flavours.  It will remind you of fine, burnished wood.  Sweet treacle.  Vanillin.  Spice cookies while they are being baked.  Butter being gently heated in a pan just before it begins to brown.

In this whisky you will experience the ethereal aromas of malt spirit married with oak.  The aromas you experience when you smell a freshly emptied whisky cask—but in this case, one of the most gorgeous, subtly elegant, awe-inspiring casks you have ever smelled.  It is the Numinous Cask

Please note the box that this comes in has a slight crack in it.

Bidding advice

You can place bids either under the lot image on the main auction page or on the right side of the individual lot page.

Placing a Maximum Bid
Use the "Set your bid limit" button on the left side of the bidding panel to enter the highest amount you're willing to bid on a lot. Our system will then automatically raise your bid in set increments if you’re outbid, up to your maximum. If someone bids above your set limit, we’ll notify you by email so you can choose whether to increase your bid.

Placing a Single Bid
Alternatively, place a single bid by selecting the button on the right side of the bidding panel. The button displays the amount needed for the next increment. For example, if the current highest bid is £50.00, the button will show "+ £55.00" (reflecting a £5.00 increment).
