Smith, George, A Compleat Body OF DISTILLING, Explaining the MYSTERIES OF THAT SCIENCE, IN A most easy and familiar Manner London: Bernard Lintot, 1725.

The Practical Distiller is one of the earliest known books on whisky distillation. This seminal work, often attributed to George Smith, is a fascinating insight into the craft before it had even become an industry. A first edition dating to 1718, the British Library Short Title Catalogue lists only eight other copies, one of which is held in Oxford University's Bodleian Library and another at Harvard University. The work has been laterly bound with a subsequent work, A Compleat Body of Distilling, known to be by George Smith, also a first edition dating to 1725. 

Together these two works bound in one volume offer a unique opportunity to own a real piece of whisky history.

Hanyu 1990 Queen of Hearts Single Cask #9102 / Bottle No.8

The Queen of Hearts was distilled in 1990 and bottled in 2006.

Matured in a traditional hogshead before a second period of maturation in a french oak cognac wood, cask # 9102.

This bottle is only number 108 of 324.

Hanyu 2000 Four of Spades Single Cask #60

A single cask #60 Hanyu bottled within the Ichiro's Malt series of whiskies.

Distilled in 2000 and matured in a hogshead before being moved into a Japanese oak Mizunara Puncheon for a second maturation period prior to being bottled in 2010.

Bottle 166 of 570.

Hanyu 1985 Nine of Diamonds #9421

Hanyu is a closed Japanese distillery that received a new lease of life from Ichiro Akuto, who bottled the last of the stock in the iconic card range. 

Distilled in 1985 and bottled in 2009, after being aged in a hogshead then finished in a Bourbon barrel.

Distilled in 1990 and bottled in 2007. 

Originally bottled in a hogshead then finished in an American oak Sherry Butt.

Hanyu 1991 Ichiro's Malt 'Card' #401 / Nine of Clubs​

Distilled in 1991 and bottled in 2011 from cask number 401. 

Initially matured in hogshead prior to being finished in Bourbon barrels.

Yamazaki Mizunara Tokyo Bar Show & Whisky Live 2013

A single cask strength Yamazaki bottled  in 2013 after being matured in a Mizunara cask. For the Tokyo Bar Show.

Hanyu Ichiro's Malt The Joker 'Colour'

The 54th and final bottling in Ichiro's Card Series.

There are two Joker's released to complete the 54 bottle series, one in colour and one in Black and White.  This particular bottling is the Colour Joker, a vatting of 14 casks covering vintages from 1985, 1986, 1988, 1990, 1991 and 2000.  The casks used for this final bottling include a sherry butt, puncheon, hogshead, Cognac, chibidaru, Madeira hogshead and bourbon.

Only 3,690 bottles of this highly anticipated whisky have been made available.

This is bottle number 3,298 of 3,690.

Yamazaki 1999 Single Cask #DU65300 

Single cask Yamazaki's are very rare and hard to find these days and we are extremely fortunate to have a number of these in our auction this month.

This single cask was distilled on 1999 and matured in a single sherry butt #DU65300 until bottling in 2011.

The Chinese character on the label we believe means 'Hero', 40th Hero.

Single cask Yamazaki's are very rare and hard to find these days and we are extremely fortunate to have a number of these in our auction this month.

This single cask was distilled on 1992 and matured in a single sherry butt #ZS 70061until bottling in 2007.

Distilled 1991 and bottled in 2009 after being matured in hoghead #10 65110 in Ohmi Aging Cellar.

Hennessy was established in 1765 and quickly became known as one of the World's most reknowned Cognac producers.  

The Paradis is a blend of pver 100 eaux de vie from ages between 30 and 100 years old.

Single cask Yamazaki's are very rare and hard to find these days.

This single cask was distilled on 1994 and matured in a single sherry butt #4G3003 until bottling in 2011.
