Yamazaki Sherry Cask Selection 5 x 70cl

This lot comprises the full Yamazaki Sherry Cask series, released between 2009 and culminating in 2013, the year Jim Murray awarded the 2013 release the best whisky in the world.

Typically matured exclusively in Oloroso sherry casks for between 12 and 15 years, they are all incredibly sought after.

Dalmore Astrum 40 Year Old

Coming from the Ancient Greek word for star and the Latin word for constellation, this is another space themed Dalmore. 

Casked on 31st of December 1966 into American white oak from Kentucky, prior to being finished for 18 months in a 30 year old Matusalem cask from Gonzalez Byass. 

The whisky is presented in Dalmore's signature bottle and a well-crafted impressive display case.

Springbank 35 Year Old Millennium Limited Edition

An older expression from this Campbeltown classic. This was bottled in September 1999 for the Millennium

 as part of a range of 6 bottles. 

The set comprised whiskies bottled at 25, 30, 35, 40, 45 and 50 years. 

Yoichi 1991 Single Cask #129459

Distilled in February 1991 and bottled in July 2014, this single cask Yoichi was bottled at cask strength. 

Dalmore Ceti 30 Year Old

This 30 year old Dalmore is named after a star Kappa Ceti within the Cetus constellation, Kappa Ceti is approximately 30 light years from Earth, hence this 30 year old was chosen to be titled Ceti.

This rare Dalmore has spent 23 years maturing in American white oak ex-bourbon barrels prior to a further 7 years within 30 year old Matusalem oloroso sherry butts sourced from Gonzalez Byass. 

Only 1,000 bottles were produced.

Springbank 30 Year Old Millennium Limited Edition

An older expression from this Campbeltown classic. This was bottled in March 1999 for the Millennium as part of a range of 6 bottles. 

The set comprised whiskies bottled at 25, 30, 35, 40, 45 and 50 years. 

Dalmore 1960 25 Year Old

A very very rare bottling of Dalmore, distilled in 1960 and aged for 25 years before bottling in the mid 1980s.

Limited edition bottle number 510, presented in a classic wooden box - what a wonderful contrast to recent well aged Dalmore's.

Yoichi 1987 20 Year Old

A 20 year old Yoichi distilled in 1987 and bottled in 2007 at 55%.

Limited to 2,000 bottles.

Springbank 25 Year Old Millennium Limited Edition

An older expression from this Campbeltown classic. This was bottled in September 1998 for the upcoming Millennium as part of a range of 6 bottles. 

The set comprised whiskies bottled at 25, 30, 35, 40, 45 and 50 years.

Dalmore 50 Year Old 10cl Decanter

A very interesting bottle, the liquid has along and complex history. The casks used combine vintages from 1868, 1922, 1926 and 1939. A brief summary of these casks is below:

Cask one: Distilled in June 1868 and transfered into sherry wood in  August 1880 and again in October 1891.

Cask two: Distilled Feburary 1878 then racked to sherry wood April 1890 and again in April 1908.

Cask three : Distilled March 1922.

Then these three casks were “racked” –one in May 1926, one in July 1926  and one in August 1926. Then in Spetember 1977 all 3 were then re-racked to a single, unique butt  then bottled in February 1978.

Two casks filled in 1939 which were bottled to glass as a 52 year old in October 1991.

All the above whiskies have been blended under the master craftmanship of Richard Patterson to create this 50 Year old 

A very rare 10cl hand blown Portuguese crystal decanter, only 191 bottles were created!

Dalmore 1978 Sherry Finesse

Dalmore distilled in 1978 and matured for over 30 years then finished in Gonzalez Byass sherry casks prior to bottling in 2011. Very well presented in a sturdy stylish box.

Yamazaki Mizunara Cask 2014 / Japan Exclusive

Yamazaki has been thrust into the spot light after their Sherry Cask release of 2013 received the title of Best Whisky in the World title from Jim Murray.  

They release several other limited annual releases including this Mizunara matured bottling. Mizunara (Japanese Oak) is famous for imparting it's own characteristics onto the whisky stored within them such as sandalwood and other notes however it is more prone to leakage during maturation. 

This 2014 release was an exclusive to the Japanese market. 

St Magdalene 1979 Rare Malt 19 Year Old

The Rare Malt Selection is a historic selection of single malt whiskies from operational and lost distilleries that were released by Diageo between 1995 and 2005.

A spectacular bottling of St Magdalene, released as part of Diageo's infamous 'Rare Malt Selection'.  

Distilled in 1979 and bottled as a 19 year old in October 1998 at a healthy 63.80%, this is bottle number 0751.

Please note there is no box. 

Yamazaki 2003 SMWS 11 Year Old 119.14

Distilled on the 30th of April in 2003 and then matured for 11 years in a 1st Fill Sherry Butt.

St Magdalene 1966 Gordon and Macphail

Distilled in 1966 and then bottled in 1996 by Gordon and MacPhail.

Springbank 1969 Signatory Vintage 34 Year Old

Distilled February 1969 then matured in a refill butt number 266 for 34 years.

St Magdalene 1975 Gordon and Macphail

Distilled in 1975 and bottled in 2008 from a lost Lowland distillery. 

St Magdalene / Linlithgow 1982 Carn Mor 25 Year Old

Bottled by the Scottish Liqueur Centre under the Carn Mor range of single malts.

Released under the Linlithgow name for the distillery, distilled on 6th October 1982 and bottled on 2nd June 2008.

Bottle number 29 of 582 from single refill sherry butt #2220.

Yamazaki Plum Liqueur Finish

A selection of Yamazaki single malts, vatted together then finished for two years in a Japanese plum liqueur cask. 

Sazerac 18 Year Old (Fall 2011)

Bottled in the Fall of 2011.

Sazerac 18 year ol is widely regarded as one of the best Rye whiskies in the world.

Dailuaine 1973 Rare Malt 22 Year Old 75cl

The Rare Malt Selection is a historic selection of single malt whiskies from operational and lost distilleries that were released by Diageo between 1995 and 2005.

Distilled at Dailuaine in 1973 and bottled as a 22 year old, this is bottle number 1345.

Released as a 75cl.

Distileld in 1982 and bottled in 2013 by Gordon and Macphail.

A 1967 vintage Strathisla from Hart Brothers.

Dumbarton 1961 Signatory Vintage 29 Year Old

Distilled in January 1961 and bottled in February 1990.

This particular bottling is a single grain whisky from the now closed Dumbarton distillery.

Duncan Taylor Rarest of the Rare 33 Year Old

A blend containing a large number of closed distilleries... 

Kinclaith, Ladyburn, Glen Mhor, Glen Albyn, Glen Craig, Carsebridge.... and they were all over 33 years old.
