Dornoch Distillery Raise Over £25,000 for India's Covid Relief Efforts
Over £25,000 raised to support Khalsa Aid and The Hemkunt Foundation in India...

Whisky Auctioneer are delighted to share the news that Dornoch Distillery have raised a spectacular £25,106.30 (excluding Gift Aid) to support the Covid-19 relief efforts in India, with donations split equally between Khalsa Aid and the Hemkunt Foundation.

The total charitable amount raised has been a collaborative effort between donations raised from London Whisky Club and direct Dornoch Distillery bottle sales, alongside an exclusive charity auction weekend held from May 7th - 10th by Whisky Auctioneer.

The auction, which included ten bottles of 2017 Dornoch single malt bottles - the second ever release from the distillery, and Bottle #1 of a 1997 Braeval bottled by Thompson Brothers for the London Whisky Club's third anniversary, reached a grand total of £17806.80 (including the donation of Whisky Auctioneer's 10% buyer's commission). 486 bids were placed from countries including Taiwan, the USA, Germany and the UK as whisky lovers took part to be in with the chance of snapping up one of these rare bottles of whisky.

Khalsa Aid are tirelessly supporting medical networks across India, comprising of established medical organisations, facilities and NGO’s who are working on the ground to assist COVID-19 patients. The Hemkunt Foundation is raising funds for O2 Cylinders to help COVID-19 patients across the country. The cylinders will be distributed to those in need by conducting drives and tying up with hospitals.

Both charities are working round the clock to deliver vital medical programmes to support vulnerable communities and will continue to do so until the battle against COVID-19 is won.

Joe Wilson, Head of Auction Content at Whisky Auctioneer said:

“Phil and Simon at Dornoch Distillery, alongside a number of partners, have really gone above and beyond in the name of raising funds for the tragic Covid-19 situation in India. We were eager to support their individual efforts with the charity auction, the results of which more than exceeded our expectations with generous whisky collectors around the world embracing the rare chance to get their hands on Dornoch's second single malt release. We’re very proud to be a part of this initiative and do our bit to lessen the devastation in India”

Phil and Simon Thompson, Founders of Dornoch Distillery added:

“We have been absolutely blown away by everyone’s support and all of us who are a part of this collaboration are absolutely delighted and amazed by the results. As we said, this has been an entirely collaborative effort for such a good cause and we are extremely grateful to Katie Guthrie, NSD International, London Whisky Club and Whisky Auctioneer for their efforts and contributions to make this possible. Thank you to those who helped this project come to life and those of you who bidded and/or purchased bottles to support the cause.
