Ardbeg Path to Peaty Maturity

Brand

Path to Peaty Maturity is a collection of four special releases of Ardbeg single malt. All 1998 vintages, they charted the progress of the first Ardbeg spirit distilled under the ownership of The Glenmorangie Company as it matured to the requisite age for the distillery's flagship 10-year-old expression.

Beginning in 2004, releases were the 6-year-old Very Young, 8-year-old Still Young, 9-year-old Almost There, and culminating in 2008 with the 10-year-old Renaissance. The standard 10-year-old core range release was subsequently re-introduced later that year. The series was predated by a Very Young Committee Reserve, specially bottled "for discussion" for Ardbeg Committee members in 2003.

Bottled in 2007, Almost There was the penultimate stage on the Ardbeg "Path to Peaty Maturity," which charted the progress of the first Glenmorangie plc vintage towards its tenth birthday. The milestone was celebrated with the release of Renaissance the following year. Earlier instalments of this series were the Very Young and Still Young releases.

Renaissance was the conclusion of Ardbeg's "Peaty Path to Maturity," preceded by Very Young, Still Young, and Almost There. All were distilled in 1998, with this bottled in 2008 as a celebration of the first stock of the Glenmorangie plc era achieving 10 years of maturity.
