Mackmyra
Mackmyra is a Swedish single malt whisky distillery, named after the village and manor of the same name, where the company was first established in 1999. The first spirit was distilled in 2002 and in 2011 the operation moved to a new, larger distillery in the town of Gävle, just 6 miles east of the converted mill where the original had been located.
Founded be eight friends from the Royal Institute of Technology, Mackmyra has always been an experimental and forward-thinking producer, and bottled the world’s first whisky created using an artificial intelligence programme in 2019.
The first release of Mackmyra single malt was called Preludium 01. A limited release launched in February 2006, it sold out in just 20 minutes. Further Preludium releases came through 2006 and 2007, which were followed in 2008 by The 1st Edition and Brukswhisky in 2010.
In 2024 a new core range was launched that was headlined by Svensk Ek and Svensk Rök, however the distillery filed for bankruptcy shortly after.
