Inverleven
Inverleven was a short-lived Lowland malt distillery, built in 1938 by Hiram Walker & Sons and housed within the same complex as its Dumbarton grain distillery. It originally operated two pot stills, with a third added in 1956. A Lomond still, it was administratively categorised as its own distillery (also called Lomond) despite sharing the Inverleven wash still.
The purpose of the distillery was primarily to provide malt fillings for the Ballantine's blends, however it was deemed surplus to requirements following its acquisition by Allied Lyons which already had a substantial malt portfolio. The Lomond still had already been decommissioned in 1985, and Inverleven closed in 1991. No distillery bottlings of its single malt were produced during its lifetime, although a blend was marketed using the Inverleven name. The only official bottlings were released by Chivas Brothers - labelled Deoch an Doras - in 2010 and 2011.
