Great Northern
The Great Northern distillery is an Irish whiskey producer in Dundalk, County Louth. Opened in 2015, it is housed within the walls of the former Great Northern Brewery (producer of Harp lager) which closed in 2013. In 2015 its owners, Diageo, sold the site to John Teeling who was looking for his next project after selling Cooley to Beam, Inc three years earlier. The Great Northern distillery was constructed and operational in the same year.
Production at the distillery is diverse and its has capacity and equipment to produce a range of different spirits. These include gin and poitín as well as single malt, single grain and single pot still Irish whiskey. The majority of its spirit is sold to third-party bottlers, however in 2017 it introduced the revived Burke's brand as its first in-house product line.
