Glenfyne
Glenfyne is a former Highland malt distillery, once located along the Crinan Canal in the Argyll village of Ardrishaig. It was built by Henry Hoey & Company in 1831 as the Glengilp distillery, changing ownership and name several times before being acquired by Robertson & Baxter in 1919 through a specially incorporated subsidiary called The Glenfyne Distillery Company. Despite the distillery closing in 1937, the company existed until 2014 when it was finally dissolved by the Edrington Group.
The distillery is unusual in that it was one of only a handful to market its single malt at the time. Robertson & Baxter produced a blend called Glen Fyne, preferring to bottle the single malt as Glamis, which was primarily available in export markets. Silent for decades, the distillery buildings were finally demolished in 1996.
