Girvan
Girvan is large grain distillery located in Ayrshire in Scotland's Lowland region. It was built in 1963 by William Grant & Sons after a disagreement with the Distillers Company resulted in the latter severing the grain supply for the former's Stand Fast blend. Construction took only nine months and the first spirit ran from the still of Christmas Day, just as it had done at Glenfiddich.
While the bulk of the distillery's output is reserved for blends, William Grant & Sons have opted to market its single grain whisky on several occasions. The first of these was via the Black Barrel brand which it bottled between 1995 and 2013, before replacing it with a new label called Girvan Patent Still.
