Stakis

A multi-facted company founded in the UK Reo Stakis in 1962. Although its hotels and inns division was its primary business, the company also had dealings in property, finance, restaurants, bars, casinos and the wine and spirits trade.

Its whisky interests mostly came through its ownership of the Haddows chain of off license retailers, however it was also briefly the owner of the Perth blending and bottling company Peter Thomson. The group acquired it in 1983 before selling it on to one of their shareholders, Scottish & Newcastle Breweries, in 1985.
