Grythyttan Whisky AB
Grythyttan Whisky AB was a Swedish company that formerly owned the Grythyttan distillery. Founded in 2007, it commenced production at the distillery in 2010 however was only in business for three years. Buoyed by the success of its private cask sales, the company believed the key to growth was to move the entire distillery to the Orkney isles in Scotland. It shut Grythyttan down in 2013 and incorporated a UK-based subsidiary called Longship Distillery Ltd in the same year.
The plan was to relocate the distillery in 2014, however a lack of investment meant that it never did. The UK operation was dissolved in 2015 and Grythyttan Whisky AB followed suit having sold its remaining cask inventory to Bergslagens Destilleri Örebro AB in 2016.
