Clear Spring Distilling Company
The Clear Spring Distilling Co was an American distillery company established in 1933 by James Beauregard Beam, Harry L. Homel, Oliver Jacobson, Harry Blum, and Jeremiah Beam. It opened the Clear Spring distillery (now known as James B. Beam) in 1935 and introduced the world-famous Jim Beam brand in 1943.
Harry Blum acquired the shares of his other partners in the venture in 1941, later incorporating a new company called James B. Beam Distilling in Illinois in 1947. That company moved to Delaware in 1967 when acquired by The American Tobacco Company and was renamed Jim Beam Brands in 1988. As part of a rationalisation effort, the Kentucky-based Clear Spring Distilling Co was then eventually merged into the Delaware company in 1990.
