Incorporated in England in 1920, Benmore Distilleries was founded in order to acquire the Benmore distillery in Campbeltown from the recently bankrupted Bulloch Lade & Co. It also went on to acquire the neighbouring Lochhead distillery, Lochindaal on Islay and Dallas Dhu in Speyside.
The company was absorbed into the Distillers Company Limited in 1929 and eventually dissolved by United Distillers in 1993. The Benmore name lived on however, in the shape of a blended Scotch brand launched by Diageo in 2011.
