Port Charlotte is a brand of heavily-peated single malt Scotch whisky produced at the Bruichladdich distillery on Islay. While the distillery's flagship brand is a non-peated style, production of whisky using peated malt was reintroduced in 2001 by Jim McEwan for the first time since 1962.
The brand was launched in 2006 with the release of a limited edition called PC5, the first of an annual release that culminated with PC9 in 2011. These preceded the launch of the first 10-year-old bottling, the age statement which remains the proprietary release to this day. The core range is supported by regular terroir-focussed limited editions, the Cask Exploration series and the distillery exclusive Valinch single casks.
