The second malt distillery to be built in Japan by Suntory, it was opened in 1973. The original facility was replaced by a new one in 1981 and it has the ability to produce a range of different spirit styles. The Hakushu single malt brand tends to showcase its peated production however.

Suntory Spirits
The Japanese-based spirits division of Suntory Holdings. It was originally established in 2009 as Suntory Liquor before being renamed during a restructuring in 2014. The company is tasked with managing Suntory's domestic spirits production, including the Yamazaki, Hakushu and Chita distilleries.
