Glenfiddich 2009 The Cooper's Cask 12 Year Old / Spirit of Speyside 2022

For the second time in just three years, the release of the sought-after annual Spirit of Speyside Edition from Glenfiddich arrives amidst a time of unimaginable global crises. Whisky Auctioneer is honoured to have partnered with the distillery once again to help raise funds for those affected by offering the full 460-bottle allocation of 'The Cooper's Cask' Spirit of Speyside Edition 2022, 100% of the proceeds of which will be donated to the Disasters Emergency Committee (DEC) Ukraine Humanitarian Appeal. In addition to the hammer price, Whisky Auctioneer will make a separate donation of buyer’s commission raised to the DEC Appeal.

Our teams around the world have been so shocked by the continuing impact of the conflict on the people of Ukraine and neighbouring countries that we decided to do what we can to help. We have decided to use this year’s Spirit of Speyside exclusive bottling to raise as much money as possible to support the Disasters Emergency Committee and their invaluable efforts in helping Ukrainian citizens and refugees on their long road to recovery in the months ahead.

- Claudia Falcone, Glenfiddich Global Brand Director

The Cooper's Cask is a very special release and the result of a cask strength micro-vatting of three American oak casks, hand-crafted by former Glenfiddich Head Cooper, Ian MacDonald. The casks were crafted using three types of wood: American oak, virgin American oak and ex-Bourbon oak, and were an experiment conducted by MacDonald into how the unique assembly would affect the final flavour of the whisky. These casks, #62463-62465, were filled on 15th December 2009 and specially selected for the Spirit of Speyside 2022 Edition by Malt Master, Brian Kinsman, who has hand-signed each of the individually numbered bottles.

Glenfiddich was an early advocate of the single malt Scotch category, and their faith is rewarded today by being one of the best-selling Scotch brands in the world. The distillery was built by William Grant in 1886, distilling its first spirit on Christmas day the following year. Today it is still part of the family-owned, William Grant & Sons. They became the first distillery to actively market their single malt brand in 1963, and were the first to open their facility to visitors. Glenfiddich was an important trailblazer in the whisky industry, who's contribution cannot be forgotten. The scale of their operation today is a testament to this.

Bidding advice

You can place bids either under the lot image on the main auction page or on the right side of the individual lot page.

Placing a Maximum Bid
Use the "Set your bid limit" button on the left side of the bidding panel to enter the highest amount you're willing to bid on a lot. Our system will then automatically raise your bid in set increments if you’re outbid, up to your maximum. If someone bids above your set limit, we’ll notify you by email so you can choose whether to increase your bid.

Placing a Single Bid
Alternatively, place a single bid by selecting the button on the right side of the bidding panel. The button displays the amount needed for the next increment. For example, if the current highest bid is £50.00, the button will show "+ £55.00" (reflecting a £5.00 increment).
