Bidding advice
You can place bids either under the lot image on the main auction page or on the right side of the individual lot page.
Placing a Maximum Bid
Use the "Set your bid limit" button on the left side of the bidding panel to enter the highest amount you're willing to bid on a lot. Our system will then automatically raise your bid in set increments if you’re outbid, up to your maximum. If someone bids above your set limit, we’ll notify you by email so you can choose whether to increase your bid.
Placing a Single Bid
Alternatively, place a single bid by selecting the button on the right side of the bidding panel. The button displays the amount needed for the next increment. For example, if the current highest bid is £50.00, the button will show "+ £55.00" (reflecting a £5.00 increment).
Incremental Bidding Explained
Our system increases bids based on preset increments, as shown in the table below, whether you set a maximum bid or make a single bid.

Private Masterclass with Jim McEwan for Twelve Guests / Charity Lot
Founded in 2015, Dramfool is a small independent bottling label created by Bruce Farquhar. Many of these releases have received high praise, and the collection features some interesting distilleries. Whisky Auctioneer is delighted to have partnered with the company to launch Jim McEwan's Signature Collection. The range comprises of nine releases, each containing three single cask bottlings from Jim McEwan's private collection.
Despite having come out of retirement to take on a new challenge at Ardnahoe distillery on Islay, his enduring legacy (for the time being at least) is his success in rejuvenating the neighbouring Bruichladdich when it re-opened in 2001. Born on the island, Jim began his career at Bowmore, starting out on 1st August 1963 at the age of 15 as an apprentice cooper, he worked his way up to cellar master at the distillery's famous warehouses before moving to Glasgow at the age of 28 to train as a blender for parent company, Morrison Bowmore. After eight years, Jim returned to Islay at the request of Suntory to become its new distillery manager at Bowmore before ending his illustrious 38 year career as an ambassador for not only Islay's oldest working distillery, but the island itself. When the offer was made to reopen and manage the redundant Bruichladdich, Jim leapt at the chance to reawaken this mothballed giant, and revitalise both it and its importance to the island. Over the next decade and a half, he helped transform the image of the distillery, breathing new life into its existing stock with a pioneering new wood policy, and reviving the historic tradition of peated single malt production by introducing the Port Charlotte and Octomore brands, and of course, the acclaimed The Botanist gin.
It was during his illustrious tenure at Bruichladdich that Jim acquired the private collection of casks that forms this exclusive Dramfool range. Each release will feature a single cask of each of the three Bruichladdich single malts.
This lot offers a party of twelve guests to join Jim for a private tasting of the first two releases from the collection (6 x 25ml samples per person).
100% of the proceeds raised from this experience will be donated to Jim's chosen charity, Scotland’s Charity Air Ambulance (SCAA), which provides life-saving support to the Islay community. You can find out more details about their important work here.
All tasting kits will be dispatched to the winner of the lot and it will be their responsibility to distribute them to their party. The tasting will be conducted via Zoom call and the winner's details will be passed to Dramfool in order to arrange a mutually convenient date and time (not to start later than 9pm GMT).
