Ardmore 'Auchterturra' 1969 Pure Highland Malt

An unusual old Highland \"pure malt\" whisky, produced by Wm. Teacher especially for the celebrated Scottish review comedy act, \"Scotland the What?\" which ran from 1969 to 1995.

Set in the fictional Aberdeenshire village of Auchterturra, the malt has been sourced from the ostensibly neighbouring, non-fictional village of Rhynie home to Ardmore distillery...

Ardmore was built by Wm. Teacher at the end of the 19th century, and as a rare peated Highland single malt, provided the smoky qualities in their well-loved blends. Now in the hands of Beam Suntory, there have been very few official bottlings, but the independent releases that have appeared over the years are much sought after.
