Bidding advice
You can place bids either under the lot image on the main auction page or on the right side of the individual lot page.
Placing a Maximum Bid
Use the "Set your bid limit" button on the left side of the bidding panel to enter the highest amount you're willing to bid on a lot. Our system will then automatically raise your bid in set increments if you’re outbid, up to your maximum. If someone bids above your set limit, we’ll notify you by email so you can choose whether to increase your bid.
Placing a Single Bid
Alternatively, place a single bid by selecting the button on the right side of the bidding panel. The button displays the amount needed for the next increment. For example, if the current highest bid is £50.00, the button will show "+ £55.00" (reflecting a £5.00 increment).
Incremental Bidding Explained
Our system increases bids based on preset increments, as shown in the table below, whether you set a maximum bid or make a single bid.
Bottle Details
Aberfeldy 1978 Scott's Selection 75cl / US Import
The Scott's Selection range was launched in the 1990s and was originally bottled from casks hand-selected by former Speyside distillery Master Distiller, Robert Scott. They are always filled un-chillfiltered and at a natural cask strength.
Aberfeldy distillery was built in 1896 by John Dewar & Sons to provide whisky for their famous blends. Although the capacity of the distillery was doubled in 1973, it was still rarely seen as a single malt, appearing only occasionally in limited releases while part of what is now the Diageo stable. It was only in 1999 that it was marketed under its own single malt brand, when a 12 year old was released by new distillery owners, Bacardi. Despite being so prized by its ownership, there are a number of fantastic casks that have made their way to market via independent bottlers over the years, like this one.
Aberfeldy
Located in the Highland Perthshire town of the same name, Aberfeldy distillery was built in 1896 by John Dewar & Sons to provide whisky for their various blended Scotch brands. It is still run by the same company, which today operates as the Scotch whisky division of Bacardi Limited.
Scott's Selection
Scott's Selection was a sought-after brand of independently bottled single malt and single grain Scotch. The casks were selected by Robert Scott, former master blender at Speyside Distillers Company and bottled by its sister company, Alexander Muir & Son.
*Robert Scott & Co
A trading name used by both the Speyside Distillery Company and the Speyside Distillers Company to market the Scott's Selection brand of independently bottled Scotch whiskies. It takes it name from Speyside master distiller at the time, Robert Scott, who selected the casks that were bottled.
