Lochside 1966 Signatory Vintage 40 Year Old

Old vintages of Lochside are increasingly rarer and rarer, the distillery was founded in 1957 however single malt examples only date from the early 1960s.  The distillery also produced grain whiskies, allowing the malt and grain from this lost distillery to increase in demand and become highly sought after. This is a fantastic example of Lochside, distilled in the mid 1960s from Signatory Vintage.

Distilled on 22nd December 1966 and matured in a single sherry hogshead until bottling on 29th June 2007.  This exceptional cask #7536 yielded only 213 bottles of which this is number 166.

Please note the minor scratch on the box.

Ladyburn 8 Year Old 1 Litre

The Ladyburn Distillery was built in 1966 by William Grant & Sons Ltd and only operated for a very short period until November 15th 1975.

There have been very few bottlings from Ladyburn, this official 8 year old was released during the 1990s, well after the closure - there is some debate as to the origin of this whisky , as it is a 'Pure Malt'.  It seems to be widely accepted as a single malt from this lost distillery rather than a blended malt carrying the distilleries name.

Lochside 1981 Murray McDavid 20 Year Old

Lochside was founded in 1957 however single malt examples only date from the early to mid 1960s and from the early1980s, this is because the distillery was purchased by Destilerias Y Crianza del Whisky S.A aka DYC in 1973 and production was used entirely for export blends within their portfolio, such as DYC.  During DYC's ownership the distillery only produced malt whisky.

This independently bottled Lochside was distilled in May 1981 and bottled in December 2001 by Murray McDavid, matured exclusively in a refill Sherry cask.

Vega Sicilia Unico 1964

Vega Sicilia is Spain's most renowned producer, traces its roots to 1864. American wine Guru Robert Parker (Wine Advocate) has called Vega Sicilia \"One of the world's most iconic wines'.
Vega Sicilia is noted for its patience in winemaking and willingness to hold onto their inventory and age their wines in the barrel. The wine can be held by Vega Sicilia for decades until they release it to the market. Vega Sicilia produces three wines: VEGA SICILIA UNICO gran reserve, VEGA SICILIA UNICO RESERVA ESPECIAL and VALBUENA.

VEGA SICILIA UNICO: This Gran Reserva is the signature wine of Vega Sicilia that is usually released 10 years after vintage. Made from a blend of Tempranillo and Cabernet Sauvignon (with proportions varying from vintage to vintage) and aged in a combination of French and American oak, both new and old (again with proportions varying from vintage to vintage) before being bottled and aged in the winery's cellars.
