Elmer T. Lee Single Barrel Kentucky Straight Bourbon / Memorial Bottling

This whisky is named after the legendary Elmer T. Lee (1919-2013), who was hired in 1949 by Col. Albert B. Blanton to work at Buffalo Trace (Named George T. Stagg Distillery at the time).

Starting from the bottom he worked his way up to Master Distiller before retiring in 1985, he passed away in 2013 aged 93. This bottle was released in 2014 to memorialise him. At the time of his death, Lee was one of only two living Master Distillers to have a bourbon named after them.

Elijah Craig 18 Year Old Single Barrel 2017

Elijah Craig is one of the flagship brands produced by Heaven Hill, named after an 18th century pastor, often cited (although probably incorrectly) as the first man to distil bourbon in the US.

This is an 18 year old and was matured in a single new charred oak barrel.

Bottled on the 7th March 2017 from barrel #4347.

At 18 years old, this barrel would have been distilled in 1999, making it either some of the first bourbon produced by Heaven Hill at Bernheim when they moved in that year, or one of the barrels produced on the still they rented at Jim Beam and Brown-Forman between then and 1996 when their Bardstown distillery was lost in a fire.

Elijah Craig 1997 Single Barrel 18 Year Old

Elijah Craig is one of the flagship brands produced by Heaven Hill, named after an 18th century pastor, often cited (although probably incorrectly) as the first man to distil bourbon in the US.

This is a 18 year old and was matured in a single new charred oak barrel.

Distilled on 16th of September 1997 and filled into barrel #4138.

Interestingly, when this was distilled Heaven Hill were not in possession of a distillery. Their historic home in Bardstown was lost in a fire in 1996 and they did purchase Bernheim from United Distillers until 1999. In this intervening period, they continued to produce their own recipe bourbon by renting stills at neighbouring distilleries, chiefly Brown-Forman and Jim Beam.
