Ardbeg Supernova SN2015

The forth and final release of Supernova... SN2015. 

With Ardbeg having blasted whisky into space and it having returned successfully, we are being treated to a new Supernova. We'll need to wait and see as to what Dr Lumsden has to say about zero gravity maturation... probably that it isn't cost efficient. Peated to over 100 PPM, this is a big bang of a whisky. Truly out of this world. A star of a dram. Is that enough space puns yet? 

The Ardberg Distillery lies on the most Southernly part of Islay and on the rugged shores of the Atlantic Ocean. Ardberg is revered around the world as the peatiest, smokiest, most complex whisky of them all. Yet it does not flaunt the peat: rather the peat gives way to the malt, the natural sweetness of which subtly intrudes, producing perfect balance. 

Mosstowie 1979 Gordon and MacPhail

Distilled in 1979 and bottled in 2002, Produced in the Lomond stills of Miltonduff Distillery which were decommissioned in 1981.

The world famous Mortlach 16 year old, full bodied, heavily sherried a true cult classic.  

Release as part of the Flora and Fauna series of whiskies but now replaced by the no age statement Rare Old.

Macallan 18 Year Old Fine Oak

The 18 Year Old Fine Oak was matured in a number of European and American oak casks.

Michter's 10 Year Old Single Barrel Bourbon 

A highly sought after, acclaimed bourbon.  Michter's 10 year old is increasingly harder to find following each release, this liquid was produced from American Corn and matured in charred white oak.

Mortlach 1991 Signatory Vintage 24 Year Old

Distilled on 14th May 1991 and bottled 24 years later by Signatory Vintage on 2nd December 2015

This 15 year old Mortlach was matured in a single hogshead #4240, this is bottle number 410 of 587.

Elegantly packaged, it is a combination of first fill and refill ex-bourbon and ex-sherry casks.  Please do not mistake this Kildalton for that which was released in 2004, 10 years previously. 

Please note that the inner packaging is very fragile and has cracked. Further cracking could occur in transit, Whisky Auctioneer takes no resposibility for this issue.

Abhainn Dearg 2008 Inaugural Release

The first legal whisky produced on the Isle of Lewis and bottled as a 3 year old.

Distilled in 2008 and bottled in 2011.Created from American oak, bourbon cask #6.

Only 2,011 bottles were produced and were individually signed by distillery owner Mark Tayburn. Bottle number 851 of 2011.

Ardbeg Blasda

The tamed version of Ardbeg, well to a degree anyway, Ardbeg Blasda was peated to an average of 8ppm compared to the more usual 24ppm.  Rather controversially, the Blasda was also bottled in clear glass, at 40% and has been chill filtered, un-like Ardbeg's other releases which are typically un-chillfiltered and bottled in the iconic green bottle at 46% or above.Now discontinued and becoming increasingly difficult to find.

Ardbeg Perpetuum Distillery Release

As Ardbeg distillery turns 200 years old there will no doubt be a few new limited releases, starting with the Perpetuum.  

This is the distillery only release, it was available from the distillery shop and briefly online. 

The Distillery Release is restricted to around 12,000 bottles and has a higher ABV than the Bicentenary Release.
