Port Ellen Boutique-y Whisky Company Batch #4

A Port Ellen from that Boutique-y Whisky Company. 

This label shows Fiddler's in Drumnadrochit's proprietor Jon Beach. He is one of the world's most avid Port Ellen fans and here he is holding sherbet lemons and chamois leather, two very common Port Ellen tasting notes.

Port Ellen 1978 Rare Malt 20 Year Old

The Rare Malt Selection is an historic selection of single malt whiskies from operational and lost distilleries that was released by Diageo between 1995 and 2005.

One of the two Rare Malt releases by Diageo, this particular 20 year old was distilled in 1978 and bottled in October 1998.

Bottle number 3892.

Port Ellen 1982 Silver Seal 20 Year Old

A slightly younger Port Ellen than you normally see from the long closed Islay legend. This was bottled for the Italian market by the Glasgow based company.

Distilled in 1982 and bottled in September 2003. 

Bottle number 79 of 360. 

Pappy Van Winkle Family Reserve Rye 13 Year Old 1990s 

As sought after as the other members of this 'family'.

Produced in very limited quantites by Buffalo Trace distillery.

Number 1661

The lack of a letter on this bottle would indicate that it is from around 1998 as Batch A was released in 1999. This will have been produced at Lawrenceburg.

Please note the fill level of this bottle, as well as the unusual cloudiness. This can be explained Oxidation.

Powell Turner 1869 Grande Fine Champagne Cognac

A Grande fine Champagne cognac distilled in 1869 and bottled by Powell Turner and Co of London, England. 

There are six grape-growing regions in Cognac, and the two considered the best are called Grande Champagne and Petit Champagne. A Cognac called \"Fine Champagne\" is made from grapes from both regions, at least 50% from Grande Champagne.

Port Ellen 1983 Douglas Laing 21 Year Old

A Douglas Laing Port Ellen distilled in March 1983 and bottled in August 2009.  

This sherry cask Port Ellen was limited to 610 bottles and bottled under the Old Malt Cask banner.

Dalmore 1976 Cadenhead's 37 Year Old

A stunning example of well aged Dalmore from Cadenhead's at what will no doubt will be a bargain compared to the official counter parts at this age.

Distilled in 1976 and bottled in March 2014 and matured in a rum cask.

A single cask Port Ellen distilled on 8th April 1975 and bottled on 19th July 1999 after maturing in single cask #1774 for 24 years.

Probably Speyside's Finest 1965 Douglas Laing 43 Year Old / Glenfarclas

\"Probably Speyside's Finest\" is \"probably\" code for Glenfarclas. 

This was distilled in October 1965 and bottled in December 2008 after 43 years in a Sherry butt. There is no \"probably\" about this being awesome.

Dallas Dhu 1982 Historic Scotland Cask Strength 24 Year Old 

Distilled in 1982 not long before the distilleries closure then bottled in 2007 by Historic Scotland, the Government body that runs the former distillery as a museum.

Word on the street is that they are making moves to start the distillery back up and running.
