Vega Sicilia is Spain's most renowned producer, traces its roots to 1864. American wine Guru Robert Parker (Wine Advocate) has called Vega Sicilia \"One of the world's most iconic wines'.
Vega Sicilia is noted for its patience in winemaking and willingness to hold onto their inventory and age their wines in the barrel. The wine can be held by Vega Sicilia for decades until they release it to the market. Vega Sicilia produces three wines: VEGA SICILIA UNICO gran reserve, VEGA SICILIA

This bottle, a  Vega Sicilia Valbuena '5 ano,' is predominantly Tempranillo with a small amount of Merlot (proportions varying from vintage to vintage) and aged for 5 years between oak (a combination of French and American oak, both new and old) prior to release.

Viña Amezola 1987 Rioja Crianza

Family owned for generations, Bodegas Amézola is located almost exactly halfway between La Rioja Alta's main wine towns of Haro and Logroño.  This Crianza is a blend of Tempranillo (85%), Mazuelo (10%) and Graciano (5%), matured in American oak (60%) and French oak (40%) for 15 months.

Viña Tondonia 1973 Rioja Gran Reserva

This red wine from the northen Spanish DOC of Rioja is a blend of Tempranillo and Garnacha with small amounts of Graciano and Mazuelo, matured in oak barrels for 10 years; 1973 vintage.

The label design is indeed that of Viña Tondonia's Gran Reservas.  However, when the terminology of \"Crianza\", \"Reserva\" and \"Gran Reserva\" was agreed in the 1970s, Don Pedro López Heredia, owner of Viña Tondonia, objected and so refused to use the new terminologies on his wines' labels.

Instead, the neck label simply states \"Rioja de Crianza\" as was the former terminology of stating the wine had been matured in oak.

Vega Sicilia is Spain's most renowned producer and traces its roots back to 1864.  American wine guru Robert Parker (Wine Advocate) has called Vega Sicilia \"One of the world's most iconic wines'.

Vega Sicilia is noted for its patience in winemaking and willingness to hold onto their inventory and age their wines in the barrel - sometimes for several decades - before they release their wines to the market.  Vega Sicilia produces three wines: \"Unico\" Gran Reserve, \"Unico\" Reserva Especial and \"Valbuena\".

This bottle is their signature wine, Unico Gran Reserva - a vintage wine usually released after at least 10 years of maturation; 1953 vintage.

Bodega Viña Mayor was established in 1986 upon the certification of the regional DO (Denominación de Origen) of Ribera Del Duero. Owned by the Barceló Group, the company has vast winemaking heritage and expertise in all of the major regions of Spain.
