Inaugural Auction

Named after the rule of Orkney in the 1100’s, Earl Magnus is the first edition of the trilogy consisting of; Earl Magnus, Saint Magnus and Earl Haakon.  A 15 year old, cask strength release within an outstanding wooden box and fashioned glass styled on bottles from 150 years ago, this quickly become a desirable Highland Park.

Only 5,976 of the Earl Magnus were created.

Bottled specially for German connoisseurs this single cask Highland Park was distilled in 1980 and bottled on the 19^th September 2003 from cask #7367, only 498 bottles produced.

With golden screen print label and gold box.

This particularly old release of Highland Park 12 year old looks fantastic, with the gold box and gold screen printed writing.  

Highland Park 18 years old round tube.  These dumpier, sloped shouldered Highland Park bottles are quite desirable.

Released in 2002 the Highland Park Capella is a commemorative bottling to mark the 60^th anniversary of Orkney’s famous Italian Chapel.

Only  5,400 bottles were made available.

Highland Park 12 years old has existed since 1979, this particular bottle we believe is from the early 1990’s.  We consider these dumpier, sloped shouldered Highland Park bottles to be quite desirable.

Cardhu 12 years old ‘Pure Malt’

I’m sure you’ve heard the story.  Following the success of Cardhu Single Malt abroad, the owners (Diageo) re-branded it as Cardhu Pure Malt, causing an uproar and ultimately the re-definition of whisky terminology.  The term Pure Malt is used to define a malt whisky produced at more than one distillery, following this uproar we now use the term Blended Malt.

Following this debate, Cardhu was required to re-package their whisky and as instructed used the term Single Malt.  This is the direct release following the Pure Malt scandal.

Released for a matter of hours, before this was recalled from the shelves by the request of Springbank. 

Distilled in 1998, this was released by Alchemist (albeit briefly) in 2006.

The packaging has not changed a lot at Oban, this particular bottle carries the ‘Class Malts of Scotland’ emblem at the top of the box.

A 12 year old Cardhu with the cream label and shiny clear box. 

Release in June 2013 for the annual Feis Ile, this Caol Ila was specially selected by Billy Stitchell.

Billy said this about how the whisky matured:

“Spirit distilled in 1998 has been triple-cask matured. For 12 years it rested in a combination of Refill Butts, Hogsheads and Barrels. The vatted whisky was then allowed to mature for several months in active hogshead casks to impart a spicy/oaky note to the existing delicate Caol Ila smoke. Finally it was treated to a final gentle maturation in European oak.”

This 1977 vintage Highland Park was bottled as part of the commemoration towards Highland Park’s bicentenary year in 1998.

Saint Magnus, follows the initial Earl Magnus release but sees the once ruler of Orkney become a Saint.  The second within the trilogy, with the same packaging and a 12 year old whisky, again bottled at cask strength.

Only 11,994 bottles of the Saint Magnus were created.

An official Diageo bottling for their 2006 special releases.

Matured in American oak and limited to 5970 bottles.

The forth release to commemorate the 110th birthday of William Grant's Granddaughter; Janet Sheed Roberts.

Only 1600 bottles produced and given to members of staff in William Grant's.
