Arran Devil’s Punch Bowl Chapter II

Released in mid 2013, Arran’s second edition, released in the very popular punch bowl series, consists of 27 casks distilled between 1997 and 2004; 17 of which are sherry casks, 6 ‘unpeated’ bourbon casks and 4 peated bourbon casks.Known as the Angels and Devils edition, only 6,600 bottles have been released.

Chapter II of The Devils Punch Bowl is a true contrast of light and shade, hence the title Angels & Devils. The 1997 & 1998 hogsheads were chosen to provide the foundation for this Whisky and add a rich and satisfying depth.  The casks used are the finest ex-Olorso Spainish oak casks and their influence is unmistakeable.

Ardbeg Supernova Stellar Release

Following the incredibly popular committee release of Arbdeg Supernova, this commercial release sold out quickly as well. Ardbeg Supernova is the peatiest Ardbeg ever released at 100ppm, an estimated 18,000 bottles were released in January 2009.

The Ardberg Distillery lies on the most Southernly part of Islay and on the rugged shores of the Atlantic Ocean. Ardberg is revered around the world as the peatiest, smokiest, most complex whisky of them all. Yet it does not flaunt the peat: rather the peat gives way to the malt, the natural sweetness of which subtly intrudes, producing perfect balance.

Glengoyne Teapot Dram Batch #3

An incredibly popular Glengoyne that is only available at the distillery, this is the third batch of the Teapot Dram.

From Glengoyne's website; For almost 150 years, workers at Glengoyne were allowed three large drams while on duty throughout the day. It was the Brewers’ job to select a different cask each week from which to draw the drams. The workers would gather in the staff canteen at 9.00am, midday and 3.00pm to receive their share.

The agreed measure was for it to be “no less than the quantity indicated by the placement of three fingers upon the tumbler” which was usually calibrated by the man with the chubbiest digits. Served at full cask strength, some of the younger workers found it a bit of a struggle to finish. So instead of disposing with the leftovers, the drams were secreted in a copper teapot. The more seasoned imbibers would enjoy a little extra throughout the day – well, it beats a proper tea break.

Available only from Glengoyne Batch 003 has been lovingly recreated by men with a vague recollection of those days matured exclusively in first fill sherry casks.

Ardbeg Supernova SN2015

The forth release of Supernova... SN2015. With Ardbeg having blasted whisky into space and it having returned successfully we are being treated to a new Supernova. We'll need to wait and see as to what Dr Lumsden has to say about zero gravity maturation... probably that it isn't cost efficient. Peated to over 100 PPM this is a big bang of a whisky. Truly out of this world. A star of a dram. Is that enough space puns yet?
