Yamazaki Age Unknown

Suntory’s flagship distillery, Yamazaki was founded by Shinjiro Torii in 1923. The town of Yamazaki was chosen to be the site of Japan’s first commercial distillery due to its very ‘Scottish’ climate, and with it being an area where three rivers converge. In its early days, Yamazaki produced both malt and grain for Suntory's blends, but the opening of the Chita distillery in 1972 allowed the company to focus on its single malt brand. It is now one of the world's most desirable. The first spirit ran from the stills in 1924, on 11th November at 11:11am.

Selected from the finest barrels in the Yamazaki aging warehouses, this was produced in celebration of the life of Keizo Saji and his receipt of the Order of the Sacred Treasure. 

Bottled in 1989, the whisky is exclusively 25 years or older, but is otherwise 'Age Unknown', and drawn from the Yamazaki reserve stock. Some sources estimate the stock to be older than 30 years.

Yoichi 1988 Single Cask #100215 / LMDW

A Japanese single malt bottling from Nikka's flagship distillery in Hokkaido. Nikka was founded in 1934 by Masataka Taketsuru, a former Suntory employee who had studied at the University of Glasgow, and later trained as a blender at the now lost Hazelburn distillery in Campbeltown.  Taketsuru opened the Yoichi distillery in the same year as establishing the company, modelling its pot stills on the long-necked design of the Longmorn stills in Speyside.

This whisky was distilled on 14th June 1988 and laid to rest in single cask #100215 before being bottled on 8th July 2013 exclusively for La Maison du Whisky of Paris, France.

Yamazaki Mizunara Cask 2013

Mizunara (Japanese Oak) is famous for imparting its own characteristics onto the whisky stored within them such as sandalwood and other notes. This was released in 2013.

Yoichi Limited Edition 2019

A Japanese single malt bottling from Nikka's flagship distillery in Hokkaido. This 2019 limited edition was produced to celebrate the 50th anniversary of Nikka's other famous distillery, Miyagikyo. The whisky itself is a vatting of casks from five different decades, including a portion from the 1960s.

Famille Vallein-Tercinier Lot 65 Tres Vieux Grande Champagne Cognac

Lot 65 is a 1965 vintage Grande Champagne Cognac, bottled after an incredible 50 years in 2015.

Vallein Tercinier was foundered in 1850 by Georges Vallein and today remains in the same family five generations down the line. For over a century and a half the family have developed a reputation in the world of cognac for the quality of its blending. They have also purposely steered clear of expanding to a size where they would no longer be considered to be a boutique producer. This puts them in the position of not being a household name, but for those who know the subject of cognac they can be described as a “kept secret\". Today the Maison is ran by Catherine and Louis Tercinier who have embraced a mixture of modern production techniques and traditions gathered from 170 years’ worth of experience.

Faberge Art's Applied Craft Imperial Collection Super Premium Vodka

This premium Russian Vodka is produced in the Ladoga factory located in St. Petersburg. It is made from Saratovskaya wheat and with water from the Ladoga Lake, refined through birch charcoal, a silver filter and membrane filter. 

These decanters and glasses are made of Venetian glass with the decorative elements adorned with 24-carat gold. Inspired by Faberge eggs, the outer case is made of metal alloy decorated with colored crystals.

No Age Declared by Silvano Samaroli Blended Malt Cuvée 2016

The No Age Declared blend is a vatting of some spectacular vintage from some similarly sought after distilleries, including 1960s Springbank, 1970s Ardbeg, 1973 Longrow, and 1970s Glen Garioch to name but a few.

Previous editions of the blend were bottled by the Samaroli company, but this 2016 edition was bottled by Silvano himself from his own private stocks as he had handed the running of his brand to Antonio Bleve two years earlier. This is a precursor style to what would become the Masam independent bottler, run by his wife Maryse following his death in 2017.

Samaroli is perhaps Italy's most revered independent bottler of Scotch whisky. With an impeccable taste in single cask whiskies, (if not English spelling at times!), he is regarded by many as a visionary. Many of his bottles now occupy deserved sports on the pantheon of whisky greats.

Four Roses Barrel Strength Small Batch 2013 70cl / 125th Anniversary

The origins of the Four Roses brand are historically hazy, with some speculating that it has been sold since the 1860s. The brand name itself was trademarked in 1888 by the Paul Jones company. At the onset of Prohibition, Paul Jones purchased the Frankfort Distillery, reorganising their company as part of it in order to use its medicinal license to continue to bottle Four Roses bourbon. The Four Roses distillery we know today was built in Lawrenceburg in 1910 by JTS Brown & Sons. Known back then as the Old Prentice, it is one of the Kentucky distilleries on the National Register of Historic Buildings for its distinctive Spanish mission style architecture. It was re-opened in 1933 after the repeal of Prohibition, Seagram purchased the Frankfort Distillery in 1943, and the Old Prentice distillery three years later, moving the production on the Four Roses brand there, renaming the plant after it in the process. When Seagram was wound up in the early 2000s, the distillery and its brands were bought by Japanese firm, Kirin, who continue to produce Four Roses to great acclaim.

Yamazaki has been thrust into the spot light after their Sherry Cask release of 2012 received the title of Best Whisky in the World from Jim Murray.  

They release several other limited annual releases including the Bourbon Barrel. This is also a 2012 bottling from Yamazaki and offers an excellent contrast to the now highly sought after Sherry Cask.
