Macallan 60 Year Old The Red Collection

It may be hard to imagine today, but for much of the 20th century, Macallan was primarily a constituent malt in blends. It was not until the 1980s downturn in the market that the distillery decided to focus on its single malt brand. The 60 year old was created by Whisky Maker, Kirsteen Campbell and is presented in a oak box hand-crafted in the UK using the same European wood used to make Macallan casks. The interior of the box has been upholstered by Bridge of Weir using high quality, sustainably-sourced Scottish leather.

Macallan 72 Year Old Lalique Genesis Decanter / Bottle No.3

One of two \"Genesis\" releases bottled in 2018 to celebrate the opening of the brand new Macallan distillery. The first was the infamous Genesis 2018 Release, followed by this, the Spectacular Genesis Decanter.

Presented in a beautiful Lalique crystal decanter, at the time of release, this was the oldest Macallan single malt ever bottled. This was distilled in the 1940s, in period of post-war optimism both in the whisky industry and the world as a whole. Having lay maturing for a staggering 72 years, this was bottled in a year Macallan themselves describe as a \"new dawn,\" representing a new period of optimism for the future with their new, behemoth distillery opening in June that year.

The decanter and its presentation are designed to evoke and celebrate the architecture of the new site:

\"Lalique has captured the character of the new Distillery in crystal, with the horizon of the decanter rising and falling in reflection of the roof line and incorporating the clean lines and natural curves. Each decanter is encased in a bespoke presentation case inspired by the interior of the Distillery, with a curved wooden roof over the decanter, and a footprint taken directly from the circular layout of the three new still houses.\"

It was designed by Burgess Studio, and was handcrafted by Royal Warrant holding cabinet makers, NEJ Stevenson.

Macallan 62 Year Old Lalique Six Pillars Collection No.5

Released in 2014, this is the fifth decanter in a highly limited, exclusive Macallan collaboration with crystal makers, Lalique. The series is called The Six Pillars collection, and saw 6 decanters released over an eleven year period, each celebrating one of the six facets that Macallan believe set them apart from Scotland's other distilleries. The Macallan Six Pillars are: Exceptional Oak Casks, Spiritual Home, Curiously Small Stills, Finest Cut, Natural Colour and Peerless Spirit.

This decanter celebrates the Macallan \"Spiritual Home,\" and was designed by Marc Larminaux from Lalique, intent on capturing the legacy of Rene Lalique and Easter Elchies House.  The side of the bottle displays the initials JEG, as displayed on the original date stone laid for Easter Elchies House, they are those of Captain John Grant who oversaw the building of the manor house in the late 1700s.  Other aspects of Easter Elchies House are depicted in the decanter, such as the 'crow-steps' interpreted in the neck, and of course the stopper represents the chimneys.

American oak casks, seasoned with sherry were chosen and filled in November 1950.  After 62 years of maturation, only 400 decanters of this incredibly rare Macallan were ever produced.

Volume I - The Laird of Easter Elchies (1659-1715)

Released in late 2021, this is the first edition in the Tales of The Macallan series. The range celebrates the people and history behind the brand's iconic legacy.

Volume I in the series pays homage to Captain John Grant, who is regarded as Macallan’s first true custodian. Captain John foresaw the potential of the Easter Elchies estate and invested a great amount of time towards refurbishing it and the surrounding land into a working and liveable facility. His investment would be one of the most significant steps towards whisky production eventually taking place at the site. 

This single malt was distilled in 1950 and bottled in 2021 by lead whisky maker, Sarah Burgess:

Concealed in an 800-page almanac book, this rare malt is presented in a beautiful handmade decanter produced by long-standing collaborator, master French crystal-maker, Lalique. The book itself is made of fine leather and decorated with gold. The responsibility of printing was handed to Imprimerie du Marais of Paris who used a specially developed paper for the project. While the almanac details the story of Captain John, illustrations by English artist Andrew Davidson are also included. Davidson's previous work has involved postage stamps for the UK's Royal Mail, the Harry Potter book-covers, and the glass doors at Wimbledon's Centre Tennis Court.

Macallan 1950 Exceptional Cask 67 Year Old #1683-13

This incredibly rare 1950 vintage Macallan was released in July 2019 only available from select luxury and specialist retailers in the UK. Distilled on the 9th November 1950, it was bottled over 67 years later on 19th October 2018 after maturing in a single American Oak first-fill Sherry butt #1683 (Ref: 2018/ASB-1683/13).

The Macallan Exceptional Casks series was relaunched in 2017. The range takes its name from a number of single cask bottlings Macallan released during the 1990s, which are often described as some of \"the greatest Macallans of them all.\"

One of only 336 bottles.

Macallan 1949 Fine and Rare 53 Year Old #136

Launched in 2015, The Archival Series honours the distillery's many advertising endeavours throughout the years. Up until the release of Folio 8 in 2025, the bottles were presented in elegant white tins shaped after large books. The eighth release broke this trend with a striking orange carboard box of the same shape. All releases include a small book detaling the brand's many advertisements.

Macallan 1939 Fine and Rare 40 Year Old / One of 58

Distilled in 1939, originally bottled by Gordon and MacPhail in 1979 and re-bottled officially by Macallan in 2002 as a 40 year old. The 1939 is third rarest in the series, one of only 58 bottles, and is considered one of best examples of single malt Scotch whisky from the distillery. An incredible opportunity to own a genuinely old Macallan.

Strathisla 1949 Gordon and MacPhail Private Collection

Speyside's oldest operating distillery, Strathisla was founded in 1786 as Milltown, and later renamed Milton in 1890. The distillery was an early advocate of its single malt, which it sold under the brand name Strathisla, after the river that runs past the site. Strathisla single malt was bottled as early as the late 19th century, and proved very popular. Nonetheless, by the 1940s it was struggling, needing to be rescued by Canadian giants Seagram, who bought it in 1950, renaming it Strathisla the following year, and tasking it as a key contributor to its Chivas blends. Despite this, the single malt brand remained a core part of the business, and remains so to this day.

Seagram licensed the distillery’s single malt brand to their Chivas Brothers blending operation, but also to Gordon & MacPhail in the 1960s and 1970s. It is the latter’s bottles that are far more prominent. This good standing with the distillery has furnished the Elgin-based independent firm with a steady supply of high-quality casks, and, subsequently, high-quality releases.

Distilled in May 1949 and bottled in 2022 by Gordon and Macphail, who have opted to use the name 'Milton' as a tribute to the distillery's name at the time of the whisky's distillation.

Gordon & MacPhail is an Elgin-based family run business, established in 1895 and owned by the Urquhart family. They are perhaps best known for their independent bottlings of single malt, such as the instantly recognisable Connoisseurs Choice brand, and increasingly as distillers in their own right, having acquired Benromach distillery in 1993. The company also has a stake in the blending business though, and has produced a number of well-regarded products over the years.

Macallan 40 Year Old The Red Collection 2020 Release

This was released by Macallan to commemorate the turn of the millennium. This whisky is among the most desirable and sought after whiskies on the market, and represents the most luxurious of Macallan, not only in presentation and quality, but also in rarity and age.

This whisky was highly rated by Michael Jackson, the late whisky connoisseur and author, and remains a proud accomplishment of then Master Distiller, David Robertson. Bottled in May 1999, this Macallan 50 year old was crafted by marrying 3 butts that were filled on the same day, 14th January 1949.

Midleton Very Rare 1989 Edition

This famous blend of whiskies was initially produced by Jameson's Master Distiller, Barry Crockett, and has been released in very limited quantities on an annual basis since 1984.

The whiskey is aged somewhere between 12 and 20 years and matured solely in Bourbon casks. Each bottle is individually numbered and carries the signature of the Master Distiller.

The 1989 edition contains whiskey distilled at New Midleton as well as vintages from the closed Old Midleton distillery.

Springbank 1965 Local Barley #9

Springbank distillery has been owned and operated by the Mitchell family in Campbeltown since 1837, and it one of Scotland's most revered distilleries. Following a brief mothballing between 1979 and 1987, upon the reopening the decision was taken to cease all sales to the blending industry and focus on its single malt sales. Today it is the only distillery to malt, distil, bottle and mature whisky on the same site, and produces three distinct and highly prized single malts. 

This is one of a select number of releases produced using malted barley harvested from neighbouring farms in the Campbeltown area. They were first introduced in the 1990s, and were eventually re-named as the Local Barley series in the 2000s.

This Springbank was distilled in January 1965 and matured in single cask #9. The barley for the release is from the Machrimore farm, and even the coal, peat and water used in the production of the whisky were sourced from within an 8 mile radius of the distillery. It was bottled in September 2001.

Macallan Distil Your World Hong Kong

This limited-edition release has been produced by lead Macallan Whisky Maker Euan Kennedy alongside the Roca brothers of the world-famous restaurant El Celler de Can Roca of Girona, Spain. The restaurant opened in 1986 and since then has twice been named best restaurant in the world by Restaurant magazine. Although the Roca brothers have never felt the need to open more restaurants in different locations, they do occasionally take their cuisine on tour via temporary \"pop-ups\".

The whisky has been matured in a combination of sherry-seasoned European oak hogsheads and American oak casks. The bottle is presented in a stunning display case which features a 3D triangular design of the city's landscape, and a hidden compartment containing an elegant print from artist Pat WingShan Wong (aka Flyingpig).

The release was initailly made exclusively available to the travel retail market in Asia in April 2025, with a world-wide release later in the year.

Moon Import The Animals Collection 6 x 75cl

Moon Import was founded by Pepi Mongiardino in 1980 and he bottled his first whisky in 1982. Always beautifully labelled, Pepi is acclaimed for designing the packaging for Moon Import bottles himself, often using images found in old books. These iconic designs, coupled with the quality of the liquid saw Moon Import steadily grow in popularity. The company is still going strong, and their early releases are some of the brightest gems in any whisky collection.

This is the original The Animals series, bottled between 1989 and 1990. There were 600 of each of these bottles released. A further 3 additions were released in 2001, exclusively to the Japanese market, a Highland Park 1975, Longmorn 1973 and a Tamdhu 1967.

Sestante Marchesi Spinola Collection No.1 x 6

The Sestante import company was founded in the 1970s by Ernesto Mainardi, and he bottled his first single casks under the name in 1985. Alongside his contemporary, Silvano Samaroli, Mainardi pioneered giving his customers a choice of both standard 40-46% bottlings, and cask strength releases from the same casks. Along with his other brand, Silver Seal, Mainardi's bottlings are incredibly sought after.

This is the very first Sestante collection of whiskies for Antica Casa Marchesi Spinola. All of the following were bottled in 1990;

To commemorate the 75th birthday of photographer Daido Moriyama, Macallan launched The Macallan Masters of Photography: Capsule Edition - Daido Moriyama ‘Remix, Remixed’. Released exclusively to the Asian travel retail market, it features Daido Moriyama work from his book of the same name ‘Remix’. Each book includes a series of inspired French fold pages and has been hand-signed by the photographer.

The whisky was selected by Macallan’s Bob Dalgarno and matured in single cask #15245, a first-fill sherry-seasoned oak cask.

Scapa 1958 Samaroli 52% / Handwritten Labels

Scapa distillery was the third to be constructed on Orkney, preceded by Highland Park and Stromness, although out-lasting the latter. It was built in 1885, and its early history was blighted with fires and closures. It was bought by Canadian giants, Hiram Walker, in 1954. As with several of their other distilleries, they experimented with the use of Lomond stills, installing Scapa's in 1959. Although it was decommissioned 20 years later, the still itself continues to be used, now without the rectifying plates. It is the only one of this type still producing Scotch whisky. Its single malt has been bottled since the 1970s, first under license by Gordon & MacPhail, with a 10 year old distillery bottling then launched in the 1980s. Scapa has since passed through the hands of Allied Distillers and is now part of the Pernod-Ricard portfolio.

In the words of Emmanuel Dron, owner of the Auld Alliance - \"The 1958 Samaroli is probably the best Scapa ever bottled.\"  It's certainly one of the oldest vintages known to exist. 

Bottled in 1985, two versions were produced, one at 52% and one at 46%. Both are exceptionally hard to find.

This was part of the Handwritten Labels series. While Samaroli was famed for his keen eye for aesthetic in designing his own labels, this series simply features his own elegant calligraphy reproduced on them.
