Springbank 1994 Private Sherry Cask 25 Year Old #30

Springbank distillery has been owned and operated by the Mitchell family in Campbeltown since 1837, and it one of Scotland's most revered distilleries. Following a brief mothballing between 1979 and 1987, upon the reopening the decision was taken to cease all sales to the blending industry and focus on its single malt sales. Today it is one of the only distilleries to malt, distil, bottle and mature whisky on the same site, and produces three distinct and highly prized single malts.

This whisky was distilled on 18th November 1994 and aged for 25 years in refill ex-Sherry cask #30.

This is one of a select number of releases produced using malted barley harvested from neighbouring farms in the Campbeltown area. They were first introduced in the late 1990s, and were eventually re-named as the Local Barley series in the 2000s. This is part of what was originally intended to be a 5 part revival series, though this is instead now being marketed as an annual release.

Distilled in June 2010 and bottled in December 2020, the 'local barley' comes from the varietal, Belgravia, and was grown in Campbeltown at the Glencraigs Farm.

Limited to only 8500 bottles.

Strathisla 15 Year Old Gordon and MacPhail 70 Proof 1970s

Speyside's oldest operating distillery, Strathisla was founded in 1786 as Milltown, and later renamed Milton in 1890. The distillery was an early advocate of its single malt, which it sold under the brand name, Strathisla, after the river that runs past the site. Strathisla single malt was bottled as early as the late 19th century, and proved very popular. None-the-less, by the 1940s it was struggling, needing rescued by Canadian giants, Seagram, who bought it in 1950, renaming it Strathisla the following year, and tasking it as a key contributor to its Chivas blends. Despite this, the single malt brand remained a core part of the business, and remains so to this day.

This is 15 year old Strathisla  was bottled by Gordon and MacPhail in 1970s.

Seagram licensed the distillery’s single malt brand to their Chivas Brothers blending operation, but also to Gordon & MacPhail in the 1960 and 1970s. It is the latter’s bottles that are far more prominent. This good standing with the distillery has furnished the Elgin-based independent firm with a steady supply of high-quality casks, and subsequently, high-quality releases.

Chivas Brothers became the sole licensee in the 1980s, launching a 12 year old using this classic branding. Gordon & MacPhail continued to buy and bottle casks, developing a new “house label” which they used until the 1990s when Strathisla was given a modern new look as part of the Seagram Heritage Selection. Rather than confine it to history, Gordon & MacPhail reverted to using this classic label, and continue to do so today. As of 2018, bottles in this style have been branded as part of the Distillery Labels range.

Suntory President's Choice 72cl

Suntory are one of the founding fathers of Japanese whisky, established by Shinjirō Torii in 1899 as a wine store in Osaka. The venture was hugely successful, and the company was renamed Kotobukiya in 1921, which built its first distillery three years later, Yamazaki. The distillery produced both malt and grain whiskies which the company blended together, releasing its first Suntory White Label in 1929, the resulting popularity of which saw the firm renamed after it 1963. Expansion in the next decade saw the company move its grain production to a new Chita distillery in 1972, and open a second malt distillery, Hakushu, the following year. Suntory today has a large stake in both the bourbon and Scotch whisky industry, but remains at the forefront of its native whisky market too.

This is a premium blended whisky from Suntory. The malt and grain whiskies were specially selected and blended by former Suntory Chairman, the late Keizo Saji. 

Springbank 2001 Private Cask 23 Year Old #146

This is a privately bottled Springbank which was distilled in May 2001 and aged in single first-fill Sherry Butt #146 for 23 years.

This whisky was distilled in November 1996 and matured in a single Madeira hogshead for 12 years. Bottled as part of the Wood Expressions range in July 2009, exclusively for Oddbins.

They release several other limited annual releases including the Bourbon Barrel. This is also a 2012 bottling from Yamazaki and offers an excellent contrast to the now highly sought after Sherry Cask.

The Whisky Agency was founded in Germany by Carsten Ehrlich, who is also the driving force behind The Whisky Fair in Limburg, one of the world's most renowned annual whisky gatherings. Their passion is unquestionable, and they have a regular release schedule of high quality single casks, often in collaboration with some of the most respected whisky bars and retailers. The Whisky Agency's labels include The Perfect Dram, Liquid Library, Private Stock, and Liquid Sun.

Hazelburn 1998 Kingsbury 8 Year Old

Kingsbury are Japan's most sought after independent bottler. They were founded in 1989 by Eaglesome, the high-end deli in Campbeltown that was purchased by J & A Mitchell & Co of Springbank distillery, and turned into one of the region's finest whisky merchants. They initially bottled Kingsbury's exclusively for the Japanese market, before the label was acquired by native firm, the Japanese Import System. They have released a number of some of the most collectible whiskies, including some classic vintages from Bowmore, and two dark sherry casked Ardbeg.

This cask strength Speyside single malt was bottled from a sherry butt to celebrate the 30th anniversary of the Kingsbury brand.

This Springbank was distilled in 1995 and matured in a single fresh sherry hogshead for 16 years. It was bottled in 2012 for spirit merchants Straight Whisky of Austria.

This Springbank was distilled in 1993 and matured in single cask #591. It was bottled privately for Captain Max Gandorfer in 2015.

Speyside Single Malt 1966 Duncan Taylor 40 Year Old Private Selection No. 4

Duncan Taylor was founded in Glasgow in 1938 as a cask broker and trading company. Its modern history began in 2001 when a former Glendronach employee, Euan Shand, purchased the firm and moved it to Huntly in Aberdeenshire, using the impressive cask portfolio it has amassed over the 20th century to become one of the premier independent bottlers in Scotland.

A mystery Speyside single malt, distilled in 1966 and matured in cask #3348.

Bottled in 2006 by Duncan Taylor, this is one of 168 bottles. 

Speyside Single Malt 1969 Duncan Taylor 38 Year Old Private Selection No. 5

Duncan Taylor was founded in Glasgow in 1938 as a cask broker and trading company. Speyside Single Malt 1982 Sansibar 40 Year Old / JD's Personal Choice No.7

This single malt was distilled at an undisclosed Speyside distillery in 1982 and matured in a single sherry butt for 40 years. It was bottled by Sansibar as JD's Personal Choice No.7, in collaboration with Finest Whisky Berlin.

Sansibar Whisky is a German independent bottler, specialising in Scotch, Japanese whisky and rum. Founded by connoisseur, Jens Drewitz, he tastes and hand-selects almost every cask he purchases, on site at the distilleries. An impressive eye for quality, Sansibar have also supported other small independents, acting as the exclusive German distributor for Glasgow's North Star, and Hidden Spirits in Italy.

Though the origin of the whisky remains undisclosed, the label depicts a beautiful painting of the town of Ballindalloch, home to one of Speyside's most famous distilleries.
