Whisky Auctioneer partners with The BEN
Whisky Auctioneer once again partners with The BEN, Scotland's hospitality and licensed trade charity, to bring over 50 rare and exciting whiskies to auction this December.

Whisky Auctioneer is extremely happy to announce that we have partnered once again with The BEN to create a charity auction with an amazing selection of bottles. With a range of over 50 rare bottles coming to our December auction in aid of Scotland’s hospitality and licenced trade charity, we hope bidders are looking forward to both finding some gems from across the Scotch whisky industry while supporting The BEN.

Joe Wilson, Head Curator and Spirits Specialist at Whisky Auctioneer, said:

"It is a privilege to bring these lots to auction to support the brilliant work of The BEN, Scotland's drink and hospitality industry charity. We are very thankful for the many bottles donated, and we're sure they will generate much interest among whisky collectors and lovers globally."

The bottles he refers to include two 1 of 1 releases, giving bidders the unique opportunity to acquire these special bottles from Ardnamurchan and Glenfarclas. For those who are interested in young distilleries, the Dornoch 2017 Single Bourbon Cask #12 50cl will be especially exciting. Based in the Sutherland town of the same name, Dornoch Distillery is owned and operated by the brothers behind the innovative Thompson Bros independent bottlers. The distillery is already making waves and fans are finding their releases increasingly challenging to come by, as more people become fans of their whisky.

Trustee of The BEN and Marketing Communication Manager of Ardnamurchan Distillery Jenny Karlsson said:

“It was quite a late decision to go ahead with the auction this year, but after speaking with the team at the Whisky Auctioneer we decided it would be possible to pull together a Christmas auction in a short period of time. I simply emailed and messaged my fellow whisky industry colleagues and within days the donations started arriving in the office.

I want everyone to know how generous this industry is, from writers, production managers, auctioneers and ambassadors, every single one wanted to partake in this event. We hope to raise a lot of money for The BEN.”

For those looking for high age statements, the Glenglassaugh 1967 Massandra Connection 45 Year Old / Red Port Style Finish will be a stand out. Distilled in 1967 and finished in Red Port Style casks from Crimea, this is a truly special whisky from the Speyside distillery known to produce particularly unique spirit. A range of Islay whiskies have also been donated, including a bottle of Ardbeg Corryvreckan, a much sought-after favourite among loyal Ardbeg fans, and the high age statement Bunnahabhain 40 Year Old Small Batch. Finally, GlenDronach fans and collectors will be pleased to see a GlenDronach 20 Tawny from the archive available.

In his introduction to the auction, drinks writer and whisky expert Dave Broom wrote,

“For over 150 years, the BEN has been providing financial, social and emotional support for the Scottish hospitality trade. It can provide grants for business in trouble, give financial help, support with mental health issues, assist with education, find jobs. It helps people irrespective of age. It’s a lifeline, but it too has come under pressure this year with more people turning to it for help.

We can help in the best way possible. One that brings cheer to us and our friends - buying a great bottle of whisky at an auction and then sharing it with friends, while the money raised goes to the charity."

We hope that you are as excited about these limited, rare and even unique bottles as we are, and bid generously in aid of The BEN this December.
