Titled Spirited Xchange, the 2023 batch of annual Special Releases from Diageo focussed on the use of new and unusual secondary maturation for its portfolio of well-known distillery brands. It included eight malt whiskies from Mortlach, The Singleton, Talisker, Lagavulin, Glenkinchie, Oban, Clynelish and, notably, the first ever public release of spirit from Roseisle.
Among the various cask-finishes include barrels that had previously held tequila, Japanese whisky, pot-distilled rum and Chardonnay de Bourgogne.
This collection has given us the opportunity to roam freely through our vast portfolio and experiment with old and new cask types, including various wine and local spirits casks to create eight one-of-a-kind expressions that we've never imagined before.
