Walsh Whiskey Distillery
Walsh Whiskey Distillery Ltd was founded in 2013 as a joint venture between husband-and-wife team Bernard and Rosemary Walsh, and the Italian company, IILVA Saronno. Each side owned a 50:50 share of the business, with the Italian company providing the much-needed capital to help build a distillery for the Walsh family's established Writer's Tears and The Irishman brands.
The distillery commenced production in 2016, however differences in opinion for the direction of the parent company developed quickly and it was eventually disbanded in 2019. ILLVA Saronno retained the distillery which they renamed Royal Oak, and the brands were transferred to Bernard and Rosemary's new company which they called Walsh Whiskey.
