Lothian Distillers
Lothian Distillers is a joint venture between the Edrington Group and Diageo, which each owning an equal stake. It was incorporated in 1993 in order to acquire the North British Distillery Company and at the time was co-funded by the Robertson & Baxter Group and Grand Metropolitan. The former was reorganised as Edrington in 1999 while the latter was merged with Guinness in 1997 and is now Diageo.
Production from the North British grain distillery in Edinburgh is shared equally between the two owners who use it for their own blends and also sell it in bulk to third parties.
