King Car Group

King Car Group is a a Taiwanese company that was founded by Lee Tien-Tsai in 1979 and originally manufactured root beer. Today it has a diverse selection of holdings that includes a number of food and drinks brands, most notably the Kavalan distillery which it opened in 2005 after the government in Taiwan de-monopolised the alcohol trade.

The rapid maturation periods provided by the climate in Taiwan allowed the company to market Kavalan whisky very quickly and it has turned the brand into a well-established and well-regarded name in the whisky world.
