John Hopkins & Co was a historic whisky company that started out as a cognac distributor in London in 1874. Moving into Scotch, it opened offices in Glasgow before acquiring the Ledaig (now Tobermory) distillery and helping to build Speyburn in 1896. It became part of the Distillers Company Limited in 1931 and was eventually dissolved by United Distillers in 1991.
Under DCL the company continued to market its popular Glen Garry and Old Mull blends and also held the distillery licenses for Oban and St. Magdalene, bottling a single malt brand for the former.
