The Islay Boys
The Islay Boys is a Scottish whisky company based in Bridgend on the Isle of Islay. It was founded in 2012 by Jason Mackay Smith and Donald MacKenzie, both native to the island's Rhinns peninsula. The company acquired the Islay Ales brewery in in 2018 and in 2022 it obtained planning permission to construct the Laggan Bay distillery, a partnership with Ian Macleod Distillers.
The company's first release was single cask of Port Charlotte, named Rona's Cask Their whisky brands celebrate the Viking and Celtic history of the island through a single malt called Bårelegs and a variety of blends called Flatnöse.
