Baker SpA (originally A.A. Baker & Co) was founded in 1898 by Arthur Arnold Baker. The company was based in Trieste which at the time was the fourth largest city of the Austro-Hungarian empire, and their main trading port and shipbuilding centre.
Mainly importing and blending rum from Jamaica and central America, they sold to the British trading ships that would dock in Trieste from all over the world. The company also dealt in brandy, whisky and liqueurs.
