Named after the Armagnac brand produced in the religious hermitage of Notre Dame de Fatima in Saint-Geours-de-Maremne, France, Auxil was a distribution and import company established in 1975. Alongside many other spirits, over the years it operated as the French agent for Scotch whisky distillers such as Lagavulin, Bowmore and Springbank.
The company was sold to CL Financial in 2000 as its owners sought to focus on their new pastis venture, Jean Boyer.
