Talisker 1993 Distillers Edition TD-S:5JV

For a long time, Talisker was the sole distillery on Scotland’s iconic Isle of Skye. Renowned for the quality of its output, the distillery has rarely changed hands, joining what has now become Diageo back in 1916. Despite this, releases were not the most common. An 8 year old was bottled officially and Gordon & MacPhail produced what are now classic and sought after vintage bottlings under official license from the distillery. When a 10 year old expression became a founding pillar of the classic malts range, the popularity of the distillery exploded, and it is now one of the most revered and exported in Scotland.

Introduced in 1997, the Distillers Edition range are cask finished variations on the Classic Malts. The Talisker variant in the double matured series is finished in Jerez Amoroso cask wood.

This bottle is being sold from the Pat's Whisk(e)y private collection which, numbering in excess of 9,000 bottles and over 2,000 miniatures, is the single largest collection of whisky ever to be brought to auction. Pat's Whisk(e)y is the result of over fifteen years of passion and dedication to the goal of creating one of the most complete libraries of whisky and whiskey ever amassed by an individual collector. It contains bottles from over 150 different Scottish distilleries, as well as bourbon, rare Scotch releases from sought-after independent bottlers in Europe, and whisky from other distilleries across the globe. Whisky Auctioneer is delighted to have partnered with Pat's Whisk(e)y to offer this collection across a number of exclusive and spotlight auctions. For more information, please click here.

Miltonduff 1997 Cask Strength 14 Year Old Batch #3

Miltonduff is located in Speyside and is perhaps best known as one of the key malts in the Ballantine's blends. It was purchased by Hiram Walker in the 1930s, who installed the Lomond stills that briefly produced the now sought after Mosstowie single malts in 1964, but these were removed again in 1981. The distillery passed through the hands Allied Distillers before arriving with current owners, Pernod-Ricard, and despite its continued requirements for Ballantine's blends, official bottlings of its single malt have been deemed worthy of bottling by each of its proprietors, a sentiment shared by many independent companies too.

This limited edition bottling was distilled in 1997 and aged for 14 years before being bottled at cask strength. Part of a series of exclusive releases, available only from Chivas Brothers distilleries.

This bottle is being sold from the Pat's Whisk(e)y private collection which, numbering in excess of 9,000 bottles and over 2,000 miniatures, is the single largest collection of whisky ever to be brought to auction. Talisker Select Reserve Game of Thrones / House Greyjoy

For a long time, Talisker was the sole distillery on Scotland’s iconic Isle of Skye. Renowned for the quality of its output, the distillery has rarely changed hands, joining DCL (now Diageo) back in 1916. Despite this, releases were not the most common. An 8 year old was bottled officially and Gordon & MacPhail produced what are now classic and sought after vintage bottlings under official license from the distillery. When a 10 year old expression became a founding pillar of United Distillers’ Classic Malts range in 1988, the popularity of the distillery exploded, and it is now one of the most revered and exported in Scotland.

The 2018 Diageo collaboration with HBO saw their Classic Malts range reimagined as being somehow related to the landed houses of the Game of Thrones television series.

It may be tenuous, but we love it all the same.

Twelve Days of Christmas Whisky Connoisseur Miniature x 12

The story of The Whisky Connoisseur begins in 1946 with the birth of Arthur Bell. Not to be confused with 19th century blender and founder of Arthur Bell & Sons, this one would go on to have an incredibly active life which would see him not only become a whisky entrepreneur but also a political campaigner and a heritage conservationist. While studying economics and politics at Edinburgh University in the 1960s, he and his fellow classmate Alan Peden wrote The Complete Edinburgh Pub Guide, a sell-out publication which reviewed many of the city’s drinking establishments. During this time, he also campaigned heavily for the renovation and restoration of Edinburgh’s Old Town. After graduating he joined an Edinburgh-based mail order company called Heather Valley. Eventually in 1973, he and his wife Susan decided to start their own company which they named Scottish Direct, one of the trading arms of which included their independent bottling company, The Whisky Connoisseur. Bell would adopt a favour for bottling single malts under creative names such as Aberlogie (Macallan) or Brodgar (Highland Park), and enjoyed access to high-quality casks which made his releases a favourite of collectors all over the world. They often carry a strong Scottish theme, but also include sporting events, the British royal family, and war history such as The Battle of Britain. Bell passed away in 2015, but his bottlings continue to generate great interest.

This is a collection of miniatures containing a unnamed Highland single malt that celebrate the 12 days of Christmas.

Moidart 12 Year Old Blended Malt

Wm. Cadenhead is Scotland’s oldest independent bottler, founded in 1842 by George Duncan. His brother William Cadenhead joined the company in 1952, taking over after George’s death in 1958. The company got into the whisky bottling business after 1904, when his nephew Robert Duthie took over, and since its sale to J&A Mitchell in 1972, Wm. Cadenhead has become on of the most sought after names in whisky. Its Authentic Collection is the flagship brand, but the portfolio of the company has expanded in recent years with labels like this.

A Cadenhead's produced blended malt named from the first line of a gaelic song about Bonnie Prince Charlie.

Epicurean 20 Year Old The Dutch Editions

Douglas Laing & Co was established in 1948 by Fred Douglas Laing, affectionately known as “FDL.” The company started out as a blending business, but over time their focus shifted towards independently bottlings single malts. Fred died in 1982, leaving the business to his two sons, Stewart and Fred Jr, who eventually carved it up in 2013, with Stewart leaving to establish Hunter Laing. Fred Jr and his daughter Cara now run Douglas Laing, which continues to bottle single malt and has also revived its blending business. Additionally, the company has recently moved into distilling as well, announcing plans to construct the new Clutha distillery in Glasgow, and taking over Strathearn in Perthshire in 2019.

The Epicurean was a later addition to the Douglas Laing family of Remarkable Regional Malts, introduced in 2016 and produced using only Lowland malt whiskies. The other family members include the Timorous Beastie, Scallywag, Rock Island (formerly Rock Oyster) and Big Peat blends produced using malts from the Highlands, Speyside, the Islands and Islay, respectively.

One of 200 bottles.

Talisker 2000 Distillers Edition TD-S:5NZ

Miltonduff 28 Year Old That Boutique-y Whisky Company Batch #3

Launched in 2012, That Boutique-y Whisky Company is an independent bottler and subsidiary of the Atom Group in Kent, England. Their releases are notable for their use of comic book style graphic labels, often with irreverent industry jokes concealed within them. Their catalogue is hugely expansive, covering whiskies from all over the world, and they are now joined by sister companies who bottle Gin and Rum.

Batch #3 resulted in 149 bottles.

Timorous Beastie 20 Year Old The Dutch Editions

Timorous Beastie was the third addition to what became the Douglas Laing family of Remarkable Regional Malts, introduced in 2013 and produced using only Highland malt whiskies. The other family members include Big Peat, Scallywag, Rock Oyster and Epicurean blends produced using malts from Islay, Speyside, the Islands and the Lowlands, respectively.

Launched in 2012, That Boutique-y Whisky Company is an independent bottler and subsidiary of the Atom Group in Kent, England. Talisker 1998 Distillers Edition / 2009 Release

Tormore 1998 Cask Strength 15 Year Old Batch #1

Tormore is one of Speyside's most aesthetically pleasing distilleries, designed in 1959 by Sir Albert Richardson (then president of the Royal Academy). It was built by the Schenley company in order to provide malt for their Long John blends. Despite this, its single malt has been bottled by all of its owners over the years, including as part of the short-lived Caledonian Malts range from Allied Distillers, alongside Laphroaig and Glendronach. Despite this, distillery bottlings are still something of a rarity, and independent releases like this tend to be the most accessible.

This limited edition bottling was distilled in 1998 and aged for 15 years before being bottled at cask strength. Part of a series of exclusive releases, available only from Chivas Brothers distilleries.

Miltonduff 1992 Cask Strength 19 Year Old Batch #2

This limited edition bottling was distilled in 1992 and aged for 19 years before being bottled at cask strength. Part of a series of exclusive releases, available only from Chivas Brothers distilleries.

Bidding advice

You can place bids either under the lot image on the main auction page or on the right side of the individual lot page.

Placing a Maximum Bid
Use the "Set your bid limit" button on the left side of the bidding panel to enter the highest amount you're willing to bid on a lot. Our system will then automatically raise your bid in set increments if you’re outbid, up to your maximum. If someone bids above your set limit, we’ll notify you by email so you can choose whether to increase your bid.

Placing a Single Bid
Alternatively, place a single bid by selecting the button on the right side of the bidding panel. The button displays the amount needed for the next increment. For example, if the current highest bid is £50.00, the button will show "+ £55.00" (reflecting a £5.00 increment).
