Big Peat The Jastrzębia Góra Edition

Douglas Laing & Co was established in 1948 by Fred Douglas Laing, affectionately known as “FDL.” The company started out as a blending business, but over time their focus shifted towards independently bottlings single malts. Fred died in 1982, leaving the business to his two sons, Stewart and Fred Jr, who eventually carved it up in 2013, with Stewart leaving to establish Hunter Laing. Fred Jr and his daughter Cara now run Douglas Laing, which continues to bottle single malt and has also revived its blending business. Additionally, the company has recently moved into distilling as well, announcing plans to construct the new Clutha distillery in Glasgow, and taking over Strathearn in Perthshire in 2019.

Big Peat was the earliest addition to what became the Douglas Laing family of Remarkable Regional Malts, introduced in 2009 and produced using only Islay malt whiskies, including some Port Ellen! The other family members include the Timorous Beastie, Scallywag, Rock Island (formerly Rock Oyster) and Epicurean blends produced using malts from the Highlands, Speyside, the Islands and the Lowlands, respectively.

The Jastrzębia Góra Edition was bottled for 10th Anniversary of Dom Whisky. One of 600 bottles.

This bottle is being sold from the Pat's Whisk(e)y private collection which, numbering in excess of 9,000 bottles and over 2,000 miniatures, is the single largest collection of whisky ever to be brought to auction. Glendullan 8 Year Old Pure Malt 1990s

Glendullan became part of DCL (now Diageo) in 1925, and continues to be an important producer for their blends to this day. Production there was increased in 1972 following the opening of \"Glendullan 2\" next-door. Both sites ran simultaneously until 1985 when the original plant was closed, and Glendullan 2 became simply Glendullan. The key outcome of this was that more spirit could be reserved for bottling as a single malt, with a 12 year old distillery bottling appearing in the 1970s. Several Rare Malts Selections and a Flora & Fauna release increased its presence in the 1990s, before the distillery became the US exclusive side of The Singleton banner in 2007.

This 8 year old is a distillery bottling from the early 1990s, pre-dating the launch of the Flora & Fauna release. Because Glendullan operated from two separate sites up until 1985, they would combine the whisky from each for bottling, and were therefore they were unable to label it as a Single Malt.

This bottle is being sold from the Pat's Whisk(e)y private collection which, numbering in excess of 9,000 bottles and over 2,000 miniatures, is the single largest collection of whisky ever to be brought to auction. Glenkinchie 2005 Distillers Edition G/290-7-D

Glenkinchie distillery was built in 1837 by the Rate brothers, who had previously operated another site called Milton, situated nearby. Glenkinchie was expanded to its current size in 1890, under the watch of Major James Grey. In 1914 they formed the Scottish Malt Distillers group, alongside Rosebank, St. Magdalene, Grange and Clydesdale, which in turn was folded into DCL (now Diageo) in 1925. It was an important constituent in many of their blends, particularly Johnnie Walker (of which it now the Lowland 'home' of the brand), and as such, did not have an official single malt brand until 1988, when United Distillers favoured it over Rosebank as the Lowland representative in the Classic Malts stable in 1988.

Introduced in 1997, the Distillers Edition range are cask finished variations on the Classic Malts. The Glenkinchie variant in the double matured series is finished in Amontillado sherry cask wood.

Bruichladdich Scottish Barley Classic Laddie

Like its island neighbour Bunnahabhain distillery, Bruichladdich has traditionally been an un-peated single malt, mostly owing to its requirements by the blenders who owned it. The last of these was Whyte & Mackay, who eventually shut it down in 1995, deeming it surplus to requirements. They sold the distillery to Murray McDavid in 2001, who launched the peated Port Charlotte and heavily-peated Octomore single malts in 2006 and 2008. A recommissioned Lomond still also now produces the popular Botanist gin there

The Classic Laddie produced with Scottish barley and bottled at a hefty 50%.

Benriach That Boutique-y Whisky Company Batch #3

Benriach is a distillery with long-standing transatlantic connections. It was procured by Seagram in 1978, the former Canadian drinks empire, and is now in the hands of the Brown-Forman corporation, via Billy Walker who rescued it from a brief mothballing in 2002. Walker bottled some of the peated whisky that Seagram had begun producing there for its blends in 1983, and the positive reaction to these means the distillery now produces both a peated and unpeated single malt. Benriach is one of only seven distilleries in Scotland to still operate its own in-house floor maltings.

Launched in 2012, That Boutique-y Whisky Company is an independent bottler and subsidiary of the Atom Group in Kent, England. Their releases are notable for their use of comic book style graphic labels, often with irreverent industry jokes concealed within them. Their catalogue is hugely expansive, covering whiskies from all over the world, and they are now joined by sister companies who bottle Gin and Rum.

Batch #3 resulted in 103 bottles.

Glen Moray 10 Year Old That Boutique-y Whisky Company Batch #2

Originally built as a brewery, Glen Moray was converted into a whisky distillery during the market boom of the late 19th century. The subsequent slump saw it mothballed, before being bought by MacDonald & Muir in 1923, who later became the Glenmorangie Company in 1996. In the latter days of their ownership it was sadly treated as their budget single malt, but it has always been a high quality whisky, and its reputation it is now beginning to recover under the ownership of La Martiniquaise, who took over in 2008. Thankfully the distillery's excellent single malt has always been treated with the reverence it deserves by independent labels like this.

Balcones 2 Year Old That Boutique-y Whisky Company Batch #3

Balcones distillery was opened in 2008 by Chip Tate, and is named after the geological fault zone that runs from the nearby town of Waco, Texas, to the southern part of the state. Tate aimed for the distillery to be a self-sufficient as possible, building its stills himself, and even making his own barrels. The distillery also distilled using local blue corn rather than buying bulk grain from larger suppliers. The unconventional methods resulted in the distillery needing financial assistance in 2012, and its new board members did not share Tate's enthusiasm for the artisanal approach, leading to a several years of high profile disputes that resulted in court cases and, ultimately, Chip Tate being bought out of the business and fired. Thankfully, the distillery's output has been of such a high quality that it rose above the noise of this background drama, and it continues to go from strength to strength.

Launched in 2012, That Boutique-y Whisky Company is an independent bottler and subsidiary of the Atom Group in Kent, England. Their releases are notable for their use of comic book style graphic labels, often with irreverent industry jokes concealed within them. Their catalogue is hugely expansive, covering whiskies from all over the world, and they are now joined by sister companies who bottle Gin and Rum

Glen Elgin 9 Year Old That Boutique-y Whisky Company Batch #3

Glen Elgin was built in at the very end of the 19th century, with distilling commencing in 1900. Its success was sporadic in the early days, but it eventually joined DCL in 1930 as part of their White Horse Distillers arm. Unusually, the distillery had no electricity until 1950, and was entirely powered by paraffin until then. Although a key component in their blends, the fruity character of Glen Elgin was deemed worthy of being bottled as a single malt too, appearing as a 12 year old under White Horse branding from as early as the 1970s, with occasional sought after independent releases appearing from around this time onwards as well.

Launched in 2012, That Boutique-y Whisky Company is an independent bottler and subsidiary of the Atom Group in Kent, England. Their releases are notable for their use of comic book style graphic labels, often with irreverent industry jokes concealed within them. Benriach That Boutique-y Whisky Company Batch #2

Girvan 52 Year Old That Boutique-y Whisky Company Batch #2 Sample

Girvan distillery was built in 1963 by William Grant & Sons after a disagreement with DCL resulted in the latter severing their grain supply for the Standfast blend. It was built and in production within 9 months, with the first spirit running on Christmas day, just as it had at Glenfiddich. Today the distillery still provides grain for the Grant's blends, but has also been marketed as a single grain, first as the short-lived Black Barrel, and more recently under the Girvan Patent Still brand. Despite the gaps in time between distillery bottlings, the market was regularly populated by independent releases like this.

Launched in 2012, That Boutique-y Whisky Company is an independent bottler and subsidiary of the Atom Group in Kent, England. Their releases are notable for their use of comic book style graphic labels, often with irreverent industry jokes concealed within them. Bidding advice

You can place bids either under the lot image on the main auction page or on the right side of the individual lot page.

Placing a Maximum Bid
Use the "Set your bid limit" button on the left side of the bidding panel to enter the highest amount you're willing to bid on a lot. Our system will then automatically raise your bid in set increments if you’re outbid, up to your maximum. If someone bids above your set limit, we’ll notify you by email so you can choose whether to increase your bid.

Placing a Single Bid
